I talked to from MSN. They want to charge two times the figure in Customs, I said. "There is nothing we can do, " they said. this was my first buying from ss. (Hot Toys except ...) I will not buy another.

Actually, my distributor brings this figure. But I wanted to get the ex version. result is this ... 500 dollars

Minastirith......Would it be cheaper for you to find someone in the states to mail these things to you or would it matter?

Thats crazy! These countries are just ripping y'all off big time with these fees.

Great looking statue though.

These pictures from me... 538

I just bought 280 dollars including shipping from sideshow. I paid about 500 dollars in customs fees. a total of $ 780 ...

Thanks sideshow...

That is so unfair, I thought I was hard done by with a 21% Custom Fee when I get anything from outside the EU :slap. Man that is the pits :gah:

I don't know how Custom Fees are calculated in Turkey, minastirith. Is it the same as in Ireland? Anything over 100Euro, they charge a % of the value + shipping? If so, you would be better off going through a dealer and getting them to mark down the value of the collectible. It's just hard to (a) get a dealer who can get the Exclusives for you and (b) who is willing to mark the value down.

I wish you all the best in you hunt for a way round those outrageous Fees :horror.

Why? Didn't like it or don't want to start a new line? :(

I'm about to return my aragorn ex; decided not to collect the line right now. If anyone wants/needs this piece (#440, good paint) please PM me by tomorrow before I ship it back. I am sure we can work out some deal to save us money. From SS will cost you 251.xx shipped in the US.

Chris

Got it in one Andrew.

Wow, and I thought I got a bad deal with € 51.04 custom costs :(

It was fine enough. I am traveling much of next year and sold all my polystone statues, shipped the aragorn back, cancelled gollum PF and gandalf maquette as well. Hopefully I can pick them up down the road.

Received this piece today. I couldnt believe how small the box was. When I opened it up and set him up I had him with his hood on first. Wow was what I thought. The detail and paint is awesome. Then I swapped for the unhooded portrait and I think I like it this way better. Thank SS for a great piece. I wasnt really excited to get this guy but in hand he is epic. Can not wait for Gandalf next and the rest of the fellowship. I got number 93/550.

Congrats Mqhuynh, it took a while but you got him and that is the important thing...and such a low number too.

It is a great piece for sure...Enjoy!

Thanks Bill. I was lucky to score a lowish number but that was just a bonus. I missed out on the early pfs but very happy i'm getting this line from the start.

I was a bit unhappy with the way the maquette looked mixed with my old SSW statues so I decided to have an old Legolas base modified so that I could display my Aragorn maquette on it.

The mod was finished a few days ago, here's some pics (click for enlargements):

First, the original base:

The modified SSW base:

And in my collection:

Personally, I would have stuck with the SS base....artistically and visually speaking it's much more interesting. No doubt the generic black SSW bases helped to keep the cost of the SSW statue line down, but they have the artistic appeal of a cardboard box...they doing nothing to compliment the character or overall statue. :dunno

Very nice Marcel :clap, really helps him fit in very well with the rest of your collection.

Thanks for showing us how it turned out.

On the contrary, i think the black bases have a more classical feel to them and allow you to focus on the character alone.
