Re: Rogue

Aside from the pupils being fairly straight, the paint looks the same as the earlier ones--assembly-line quality. But that's progress about the pupils, at least. I'm glad you're happy with it.

I'm waiting for my replacement set. No word from Sideshow yet, and New Year's is right around the corner. I have to say, if the only thing they fixed was the pupils, I'll have to seriously consider sending her back for good and getting a refund. Then I can get rid of all the X-Men I've gotten so far and wash my hands clean of yet another Sideshow line.

Wow, thats a bold statement! I love my xmen PFs so far. I have no intention of getting rid of gambit or cyclops. I will prob keep rogue as well but an improvement is much needed. If they can't fix her to my standards, I may just get a custom paint job on the heads and add a gloss layer to her myself.

Re: Rogue

Hey guys I'm trying to get in the PF lineup and have been looking over some of Sideshow's recent releases to get a general feel for their style on a lot of the modern stuff.

What seems to be the huge issue with this Rogue figure? Quality control problems on the face? What is this I hear about her butt though? Not sure where to start with seven hundred pages.

And in general how is the quality control and actual quality of this lineup? I hear the Gambit is incredible and he looks really nice, but some of the other PFs don't look anywhere near as good. In the event that you order from Sideshow and get a figure that looks much worse than the promotional shots/has quality control problems, can you get a full refund or can you only get a replacement?

Oh and for those who live in the US, how much is shipping for an EX of these things? I know the regular version comes with free shipping, but I'm curious if the EX are ever worth the extra cost of shipping.

Thanks.

Hey guys I'm trying to get in the PF lineup and have been looking over some of Sideshow's recent releases to get a general feel for their style on a lot of the modern stuff. The PF style is generally from the same era of comics. If you want modern versions of characters you should look at their comi(cal)quette line cos PF line is Lee, Kirby...

What seems to be the huge issue with this Rogue figure? Worst painted eyes probably ever. SS filled in the butt crack.Quality control problems on the face? Eyeshadow, lipstick, eyebrows, hair, headband, eye direction, cross eyed, neck join gap, head not fitting with jacket on.What is this I hear about her butt though? SS "filled it in" cos Marvel said so apparently. They will draw soft porn but won't sculpt anything even close to it.Not sure where to start with seven hundred pages fair enough!.

And in general how is the quality control and actual quality of this lineup? Generally it is awesome. Usual Sideshow standard of crooked eyes, paint drips, chips etc but nothing noteable besides Emma Frosts head looking like Bride Of Cucky and fakes of Hulk and Dr Doom.I hear the Gambit is incredible and he looks really nice, but some of the other PFs don't look anywhere near as good. In the event that you order from Sideshow and get a figure that looks much worse than the promotional shots/has quality control problems, can you get a full refund or can you only get a replacement? SS 30 day guarantee. If it's busted you get replaced or refund + shipping. If you think it blows you pay shipping and get refund. Their pictures on the site aren't so great as a rule, but the pictures and opinion on this board are pretty accurate when it comes to worthyness. Chase the thread up on each piece. The price on the secondary market also tells you how good some of them are.

Oh and for those who live in the US, how much is shipping for an EX of these things? I know the regular version comes with free shipping not from SS, but I'm curious if the EX are ever worth the extra cost of shipping. $20 - $50? that's going to depend on how close you live to the seller. Ebay has prices should give you a free quote on shipping from US addresses. The EX is always worth it if you ask me. They retail higher than a reg, even if the EX sucks. Even if it's Emma Frost. Dr Doom, Thor, Cap, Spidey and Mr Grey Hulk Agree

Thanks.

The problem with the Rogue piece are as follows but differs from piece to piece:

- Her eye shadow is way too thick & not properly painted on.
- Her eyes are looking in 2 different directions.
- Paint application is poorly done.
- Her butt was filled in which was "rumored" to be a decision by Marvel.
- Her neck doesn't fit all the way in the body.

As for Sideshow, they do give refunds or replacements depending on your choice. Note that sometimes they'll just give you a partial refund depending on the situation.

As for your 1st PF, I'd advise you to stay away from Rogue. It may totally turn you away from collecting PFs depending on the quality of the piece you might recieve. If you have the funds, I'd personally suggest getting the Red Skull or Thor or even the Bucky PF which is still in stock if my memory serves. In my opinion those 3 are perfect representations of what you should be expected of a PF.

Re: Rogue

Thanks guys this helps. I wasn't really considering Rogue but I wanted to see how she was doing. Psylocke I would like.

Oh and what I meant when I said modern releases was recent PFs not modern versions of the characters.

That probably didn’t come out right without the context, sorry. I grew up on the X-Men comics and was at first excited to collect the PFs. Gambit set the bar very, very high. Wolverine was OK. Cyclops is an over-muscled freak with a horrible headsculpt, but like Wolverine, is a must-have as one of the team leaders. I didn’t bother with Emma Frost because of the ridiculous physique (her head is as big as one of her boobs) and cartoon face. The same for Psylocke. I’d honestly feel embarrassed to display them looking like that to normal (non-nerd-like-myself) company. It didn’t bother me too much because IMO they’re secondary as X-Men, part of the whole X-Plosion of X-titles that drove me away from Marvel 20 years ago. But then the problems with Rogue, and Colossus, one of my favorites, having tiny boy hands and a huge pricetag. Oh, and the fact that all their bases don’t match. How dumb was that? Anyway, I figured I’d think more about trying to get a regular Colossus on the cheap just so I could have a complete team. But if they can’t rescue Rogue I don’t see the point and will back out while I still can.

As far as repainting Rogue, I could do that myself with confidence that it would look 10X better than what a Chinese factory worker paid by how many pieces he/she can pump out a minute can do. But since I am 50-50 about continuing to collect a team if the new ones continue the pattern of mediocrity, I want to keep the option of getting rid of it stock. This would not be a question if I really loved the franchise or the statues, but I have other hobbies that I can more confidently spend the money on.

They're certainly taking their time on the replacements. I take it as a good sign; hopefully they're putting all their efforts into getting it right this time around.

They delayed this piece when it was originally set to release. Don't know if them taking their time equates with them shipping a quality replacements.
