This was probably the first real surprise of E3, and it happened during Ubisoft's press conference. It's an original IP, and it really impressed me.

Watch Dogs is Probably the Best Game We’ll See This E3

A rarity this E3: a brand new game. Not a sequel, not a reboot, but a brand new game based on brand new IP. And it looks amazing.

Played in an "open city" (in third-person, though it's hard to see just how "open" it is), players in Watch Dog will have the power to control an entire city's infrastructure via powerful computers that run everything from data records to power lines.

The player can see informational pop-ups in the world around him not that different from those glimpsed in Syndicate earlier in the year. Every character's criminal record, medical history, the works.

In sequences shown during Ubisoft's E3 conference, we could see the player blow out all mobile phone reception in his immediate area, and even short out traffic lights causing a major accident (which provided impromptu cover for an impending firefight).

There's even, believe it or not, seamless co-op that looks more interesting than just "twice as many guys shooting stuff up".

We'll try and have gameplay video up ASAP. Because this looks really, really cool.

That definitely went up on my radar. Looks very different and immersive. Open world Ubisoft? Damn

Yeah, it definitely looks cool. Really liked the end, and the fluid transfer to another character.

Yeah. I'm posting here whatever comes into my gaming news feed that I find interesting. That's why I haven't bothered posting anything about the half-dozen military shooters shown today.

It truly makes PS2 look ancient, look how far gaming has evolved since 2000.

That rain effect looks so awesome. Makes me want to just roll around in the street

Wow this game looks amazing. I really like the concept. It's something I don't think has ever been done before. The gameplay reminds me of Grand Theft Auto but with superior graphics. I'll be keeping an eye on this game.

This does look fantastic. The demo is heavily choreographed, but I don't think it was scripted too hard. It gives you a good idea of it's potential.

Best of show by a long shot right now. Hard to believe they are playing this on current gen systems.
