Re: Ringwraith on Steed PF
Right... and, because it's not 'real life', nobody's allowed to express an opinion on it? The whole purpose of this forum is discussing stuff that isn't real, for god's sake. lmao.
Re: Ringwraith on Steed PF
No I'm not. Tolkien stated quite categorically that the ringwraith's mounts were real, living, breathing horses, not ghosts/wraiths.
'Because they are real horses... these horses are born and bred to the service of the Dark Lord in Mordor. Not all his servants and...
Re: Ringwraith on Steed PF
Speaking as somebody who's been around horses their entire life, I can pretty much guarantee that if that was a real horse rearing at that angle, carrying a rider that size, and with it's hind legs in that very awkward position, it would be on the floor on it's...
He has totally different armour too (those awesome gauntlets and sabatons give him away, even without the word) :)
[edit] ...But yeah, unless you know that. I guess it isn't a big deal.
Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread
Whaaaaa??? Blasphemy! lol. It could, possibly, end up being be on a par with the original trilogy (if it's REALLY well done) - but there's no way it'll be better.
Re: Ringwraith on Steed PF
Seriously? It's not like I asked if anyone though they might just do one front leg, or half a head or something. All I did was ask if anyone else had wondered about the (granted, awful) possibility that they might try to find a way of reducing the size that way. I'm...
Re: Ringwraith on Steed PF
I'm wondering, is it definitely a full length/body horse sculpt? or do we think, perhaps, the steed could be cut off just below the 'waist'... sort of almost like a 3/4-length sculpt/bust type affair (in an attempt to reduce the enormous height of a rearing horse of...
Re: Ringwraith on Steed PF
I'm about as sure in my mind as it's possible to be without having any actual proof that that's not the RWOS PF. It's just not the same neck angle or position at all (and the neck angle/positon on a horse determines how the rest of the body will be positioned). From...
Re: Witch-King Maquette
Not the iconic spread-armed "Pelennor" WiKi many people (including myself) had been hoping for, but wow... *drool*. Can't wait for this piece. It's surprisingly nice to see him as he appeared in FOTR, and without the extra ROTK war armour, actually.
I just really hope...
Unfortunately not. Wish there was, though. :(
As for Forbidden Planet, it's a great place to look around, but if you're thinking of actually buying stuff, I wouldn't bother going there, personally. Almost everything they sell is grossly overpriced, even by UK standards.
Hmmm. From the WIP photo, it seems pretty unlikely that actual metal or metal alloy armour is going to feature. I mean, it clearly showed him with the early stages/base levels of sculpted armour on his torso and head at least. So that only leaves his limbs - and to have those metal-clad, while...
There was one more. They also made an awesome true-form Witch-King (sold as 'Twilight Ringwraith'), but he was the last one of the LOTR animaquettes they did, as far as I'm aware. Shame really. It was a nice line. Would have been nice to see it completed.
Re: Witch-king / Lord of the Nazgul PF! Order NOW through the banner!.
Yup. I totally agree with you. It's a big, impressive piece, and that lulls a lot of people into a false sense of correctness. But the scale is off, IMO.
I can't wait for this. It's a definite buy for me, regardless of whether there'll be a super-duper-bells-and-whistles-extended-box-set out at a later date. I haven't got the patience to wait that long without something to tide me over in the meantime - and this'll do very nicely in that regard...
