Just came across this trailer for Rising (not sure if it was posted already). Good God, I really can't take this game seriously. I canceled my pre-order - no way I'm buying this p.o.s. at full price.

Some thoughts that came to my mind:
1. Raiden's voice sounds wrong. Very, very wrong.
2. He looks extremely awkward driving a car in his cyborg suit. It's not something that I'd expect from a ninja?! Does he also get out of the car in his cyborg suit to refill gas and pick up some snacks at 7 Eleven?
3. It doesn't make sense that he's still suffering from the trauma of his childhood, when he came to terms with it in MGS 4. This type of Raiden would have been more appropriate for a setting between MGS 2 and 4 (like what was originally planned by KojiPro).
4. What happened to living as a family with Rose and Jon? Were they retconned out of the series? :rotfl

It's just further clarification that this whole scenario going on in the game is a completely alternate universe and the series truly came to a close in MGS4 and the characters lived out their lives in peace.

The non cannon-ness is stunningly apparent.

RIP Zandatsu.

You're right, man. I just hope that it remains as an alternate universe, and that Hideo doesn't pull anything out of the blue in future games to make it an official canon :rotfl.

RIP MG"S" Rising.

As long as there is no mention of Snake I will be satisfied.

Seeing how this game is, I wouldn't be surprised if Platinum added in a Cyborg Snake for Raiden to fight. Or a Solid Snake A.I. that counsels him through codec (or whatever they're using for communication in Rising)... :slap

Plot wise this game is a epic fail :monkey1

Everything after MGS3's plot is rubbish... They couldn't even be bothered to get the timeline to fit in so instead they just decided to leave/change events & people out from previous games!

Rising will be fun to play for about a week once the buzz from playing as Ninja wears off

The white PAK Raiden however will be a definite yes. I think i'll keep my pre-order on zavvi just so i don't have to pay the ludicrous eBay prices....

I very much agree. Although in terms of complexity MGS3 was a step down from MGS2 but is far from being a "inferior" game.

Rising is about gameplay, and that's it.

Yeah and the visuals. The gameplay is smooth and fluid and i can see where the excitement may lie for some. Especially those who we're fond of the DMC series as to me this is just an updated version of those, which is fine.

Personally i hope in hand the game will have more of a presence and some longevity to it but i ain't holding out for it!

The basic allure of the game is to finally have a MGS Ninja game which is why everyone is drooling over the Gray Fox skin, including myself.

And it will be interesting since you can upgrade your weapons and equipment like a DMC game.

I **** the bed when i heard about this, living in the UK i get the DLC skin for free

I guess i never really looked it it that way, the hype i mean.

Personally i would have preferred a similar game style to the original but playing as Grey Fox. You'd have to be stealthy like an actual ninja.. staying somewhat true to it's roots. Nonetheless i can see why they'd take this route

Interestingly Kojima also said the development team picked Raiden over Grey Fox as the main man for this game, where-as he would have preferred Grey Fox

Anymore, Kojima isn't 100% involved with development so that's why the games are just bad anymore. MGS4 could of been absolute greatness if Kojima did the story he intended.

What do you mean anymore?

Not sure if you spoke about it already, again sorry if it has but what do you think of GZ?

i know i've read your not bothered about Big Boss and i agree with you on that. What about the actual game? no interest or

I actually am bothered with Big Boss since he's been forced down our throats for four games in the last 10 years and Snake has gotten 1.

I think the story might end up being on par with Snake Eater and hopefully this is the final Big Boss game to bridge the gap with Metal Gear 1.

Ironically, Solid Snake is the most unappreciated character in the entire series. He was reintroduced along with "Metal Gear" in MGS 1. But then, only one game later, Kojima tried to off him as the main character in MGS 2 and replace him with the white-haired, androgynous, fairy. Adding insult to injury, Solid Snake then became a sickly, and dying "Old Snake" in MGS 4 - when he hardly even had the time to shine in the franchise.

It baffles my mind as to why Kojima even decided to reintroduce Solid Snake, when he was trying to hard to get rid of him from the onset :slap. Of course, Kojima can do whatever he wants. But, I do hate where this series is going - especially with all of the retcons from the Big Boss games.

Damn straight. All these prequels continue to make Big Boss less interesting. I just don't give a **** about his character, I don't care about him at all anymore. The Boss would make a much better character of a stand alone game than the four Big Boss games.

Snake is the best character in the series no matter what the Big Boss fanboys say.

I actually started off really liking Big Boss. I didn't really distinguish between him and Solid that much in MGS3, in my mind there were the same person just set in different era's. It was the endless games that followed that ruined Big Boss for me. Now he just annoys me abit

The Big Boss fanboys like to think that Snake is based off Big Boss... that's a special kind of retarded.

I love Big Boss in MGS3... and it should of just been a one and done with him. The whole "Boss's will" has been so beaten to death and it was never interesting to begin with. The whole idea of the formation of the Patriots just seems silly.

Peace Walker had the worst story in the entire franchise with Portable Ops one notch above it.

I hope Ground Zeroes is good and I hope the dead horse Big Boss is done afterward.

I hated the fact you changed to Raiden. Infact that's the sole reason that MGS2 isn't my favourite in the series.

MGS4 was just the last nail in the coffin for Solid. When they turned him into an old a** cigar smoking pedophile wearing a sneaking suit that closely resembled a high tech gimp costume

You know that I've gotten tired of him, too :lol. Big Boss was only interesting in MGS 3, for the sheer initial shock that he was Big Boss and not Snake. But then things got stale. Peace Walker is a fairly nonsensical chapter since none of its events are even significant to the continuity of the series. The same can probably be said for Ground Zeroes, too.
