So my comic store calls me yesterday to let me know that they have good and bad news. The good news is Cap is in and they have two #s 74 and 100. The bad news is they are the regular editions.

Needless to say, I am not happy. They confirmed with SSC that they would get 1 ex for me. The manager called his rep from SSC to see if they can get me an ex, and he was informed that they messed up and they will try, but there is no guarantee since it is sold out.

What is the best course of action here? Settle for a low number regular or cross my fingers and hope that I get an ex?

What would you do? I need some advice.

Just get the low # for now and if your shop ever gets that EX, see if you can exchange it

Whats the difference between local & reg comic shop? So if your LCS are within a certain distance from you, they can order the EX and If they are not, they can't order it?

no local/regular comic shop's are the same thing local just means close to your house...... exclusive sideshow products can only be purchased through sideshowcollectibles.com comic shops can only get regular edition's

Did the member you bought it from gouge you like you are trying to gouge another, or were they more helpful and friendly?

I say go with the regualr version. The EX is hard to display anyway as you can't see the front of the shield viewing the piece head on. The piece has to be displayed from the side to see the front of the BD shield. A real head scratcher that Sideshow went that route with the EX.

Someone that works at the store could easily score an EX to sell. They don't absolutely have to state they are a retailer. They can have a personal account also.

I think that is what happened. But there was a glitch somewhere. The bad thing is I could have ordered it myself, but I was assured it would not be a problem. I can't blame the store, they have been great to work with throughout the years.

If I get the reg., because I am not sure if the ex is possible at this point, is it better to get the #74 or #100?

Yo, Brother Vipes! If I wasn't absolutely addicted to purchasing only EX's, I would totally agree with this statement entirely. The only part that's not jiving with me is the very first sentence.

This is incorrect. Any SS retailer can order exclusive items, the reason you don't see them listed for order anywhere is the retailer must pay full price, so they have very little incentive. My AD gets all SW and Joe exclusive figures and PFs for himself and complains about paying retail since he knows the markup.

This is correct. I get a 10% discount when I order the regular editions, but I would need to pay full price for the Cap ex.

I am heading down to look at the reg., I do not like the fact that the battle shield is hard to see. I just do not understand that.

I only ever go direct with any and every piece, no matter who the manufacturer is. I've seen orders go South way to often with fellow collectors to ever rely on anyone else.

I know a lot of folks that say they don't care what number they get. Although, it's not the most important aspect of receiving a righteous statue, it's always sweeter to me to get a lower number than a higher one. JHMO, of course.

With that said, it is time to move on. Cap looks insane. Everything about this statue is fantastic. I was very worried because I wasn't a fan of Thor, but Cap is worthy of a 9.5. I put him right up there with my Terminator 1 PF.

Sweet arrangement. Congrats. I'd agree with your assessment on Cap. He is definitely as good as the Terminator PF.
