I don't like what comes out of some of those Def Jam comics mouths about white people but I just don't watch them. That's how I handle that.

Oh, btw......here's a picture of me and my two friends. I'm the one on the right with the cute dimples...... :D

Finally, a pic of the Ween. I thought you were liberal, but now I see your just a square with cute dimples. Your friends are cute too.

Congrats on the 5000th post. :rock on.

I guess I just don't take race seriously. I know there are people who do, but I don't, and won't.

I'll take murder seriously, or lynching, or enslavement, or demanding that people of one race obey laws that those of another race don't have to.

Ridicule? I'm supposed to take that seriously in light of these other crimes? I'm supposed to hold it on the same level?

No. I refuse.

I'm australian and was offended by this... Also annoyed because I knew it'd go Global and bring a negitive light onto a fantastic country.

But I do find it ironic that 4 of the men in the group are actually Indian...

Just curious, was anyone actually amused or entertained by the act, setting any feelings of offensiveness aside?

I showed it to a couple people at work on my iphone and we all agree the act was just plain stupid. Is this an actual runnign act that is asked to come back again?

I was both amused and entertained. The segment is called Red Faces. An anomaly of ordinary people, perform all manner of party tricks or badly construed acts, for a lowly sum of money. Any real talent is not likely to be seen, as there are other segments for that sort of thing. I think the guy who won on that particular show burped his way to the $50.

The actual show started out as a children's program, starring a guy and his talking ostrich, later dominating Saturday night television, and ran for 27 years. Which is why it's an institution in Australia. It finished about ten years ago and the cast and crew came back for two shows as a reunion tribute. It's fun, light hearted and totally live entertainment. Things always went wrong, which added to its appeal.

The only reason that particular act was on, was because they performed the same act over a decade ago when they were medical students. They are now all medical specialists. It was more about were they are now. The entertainment and amusement I obtained from the particular act was nothing to do with blackened faces, nor their singing or dancing ability, but their lack of it, and the comments from the regular judge. The enjoyment derived isn't from any one particular act, but the segment as a whole. Everyone can think it's lame, but that's part of it's appeal. Nothing is taken seriously and it's a live unscripted and unrehearsed unpredictable show. It's quite understandable that any uninitiated person, seeing this blinkered view of the segment, wouldn't understand what there is to see in it, leaving the viewer perplexed and offended.

Well blow me over... this thread is STILL here. :sleep
If you want to see something really offensive in Australia watch this.

I guess that lack of respect for another human being is global, because I've seen at least two other videos with similar outcomes.

Thanks for ^^^^ing my morning up Creech! :sick The only thing this world lacks is old fashion ass beatings .............. oh that and inflicting fear back into the minds of the adolescent. Get em when they're young I say. My God that was disturbing! :(

That's terrible! I know in bigger cities, people can get beat up and even raped and people will just walk by. Sad. :(

I just watched this again. Did she fall out of her own car or did someone hit her?

Sorry 'bout that. Too many laws, too many loop holes with too many inconsequential consequences. A recipe for failure. You have to wonder what the law industry is doing to earn their dollars. Here's a buck, pass it on.

Not sure what happened in the car, it's assumed there was some kind of argument and the woman either jumped out or was pushed out. They caught the driver. The woman is in hospital with extensive head injuries.

She appears to be dark, so more than likely she's an indigenous Australian. Mustn't use the word native or aboriginal because it's offensive. Because of the alcohol problems up north, helped along by the climate, it isn't unusual to find indigenous people passed out, so you can't entirely blame the passers by from not stopping to help. A friend of mine, a caucasian, fell asleep on the side of a 'road' on his way home from a party, and was run over and killed. That was 30 years ago, and things haven't changed that much, it appears.

Putting it in perspective, I agree 100%. Still matters in my opinion, but there are many many other things that matter a lot more.

People who do go out of their way to insult others based on things like race, or sexual orientation, or the like offend me to no end. I would never seek to writie it into law, but that doesn't mean I hold it in any lesser contempt.

What does not bother me are the things that are regarded as "insensitive". I am not willing to pre-empt every possible misconstrued slur that a "sensitive" point of view might read into my words and actions, and I won't hold anyone else to a standard that I'm not willing to hold myself to.
