Critics hate it, a very, very large contingent of fans hate it, I think generally those who like it are in the minority. It's not really about the race anymore, it's about The Last Airbender being a crappy movie.

Ohhhhh $150 mil...this movie might really end Shimalala's career.

According to Rotten Tomatoes, Eclipse is at 51% (surprisingly) and this is at 8%, so watching Eclipse instead may not have been a bad choice.

Omg this movie was bad. The characters didnt act like the cartoon and this movie had so much potiential but it was soo rushed. What was with katara narating everything. Zuko was the best thing about this movie.

Surprisingly, Eclipse wasn't that bad. Definitely a big improvement over the first one, and better than the second.

I read in an interview that M. Night considers it the 'proper' prenouncation for Aang. I'll try and find it again, it was an interesting read at least.

And I fought like crazy to have the pronunciation of the names to go back to the Asian pronunciation. So you say "Ahng" instead of "Aaang" because it's correct. It's not "I-rack," it's "ee-Rock." I'm literally fighting for all this.

I love how he says Fighting like we all wanted it!! The thing the pissed me off the most was Uncle Iroh's name.

Yea, it's not CORRECT. I don't care what the Asian pronounciation is supposed to be - the creators picked the name, they decided how it was pronounced, not M. Night. Like I said, over inflated ego.

Your discussion reminded me of two things that really disappointed me about the movie's overall plot:

where did this "you aren't intended to hurt others" crap come from? Aang spends most of two seasons telling everyone he doesn't want to kill the fire lord, and everyone telling him to stop being such a puss over it. M. Night's sanitizing of the character is sad, since this very adult and very real moral dilemna is part of what made the show great.

And there's:

the death of Zhao. What? Some nameless Water Benders? WHAT? In the show, he's killed by the moon spirit, perfect revenge. At least that's always how I took that scene, but here you get another sanitized change that dilutes (pun intended) the power of the scene.

Movie was just bad to me. The whole katara narating really pissed me off. And ang giving that stupid speech to the earth benders. And what was with that dragon ? Also azula was hot !!!

Anyone else catch the earthbenders doing that stupid dance just to move a pebble.
