He basically flat out said Penguin isn’t coming in an interview a while back. I’d have to dig it up but I pretty much don’t foresee that character ever releasing. At the time he said Catwoman was more likely but nothing was ever promised.But he's also said for years that Catwoman and Penguin are in development.
Interesting to hear him say "Anakin Ep3 is best figure".... so its all downhill from here.
Burton Batman fans have been sticking to an image of the Batman Returns logo with the words coming soon or whatever for a long time. We got Batman and that may be that. Whil I understand the frustration from some fans they aren’t obligated to make everything they show or hint at. Until they take your money nothing is set in stone and there aren’t any promises. I’m sure there is reasoning as to why certain things don’t release whether some of us like it or not.
It is interesting that he considers Anakin one of the best. I do agree with him that it’s a good figure though. Waiting on mine to come soon after one last flex payment.
Not what I remember. Last "interview" I paid attention to Howard said that we'd "see Catwoman first". Not sure when that interview was but its the last reference that he ever made to Returns that I recall.
Whatever the case, clearly there's no plans to release Batman Returns or anything more from the Burton era anytime soon, not after the disastrous sales of Mime Joker.
But 2019 will be the 30th Anniversary of Burton's Batman and we all know how HT loves anniversaries.

Okay I remembered that wrong about the Penguin and Catwoman figures. I looked it up and the question was: Any update on Batman Returns Catwoman and Penguin figure? To which he replied: Fans can expect to see Catwoman a bit sooner than Penguin. In some ways I kind of took his answer as being Catwoman is more likely to happen of the two if at all though.
Honestly I think Burton fans screwed themselves a bit by being whiney. They talk about not getting anything and then they release something like Mime Joker, which is actually a decent figure but because it’s not what people would have preferred a lot didn’t buy it and it sold very slow. Same with the eventual release of the Batman from Batman Returns which in ways felt like it was done to shut people up from asking about it but was still a decent figure.

I still have hope that HT will do Penguin and Catwoman, just waiting for the right timing on interest, which I totally understand... despite being in an impatient hobby.
Certainly prices have reached a point where Penguin is justifiable for them to make. Plus, a two pack Penguin/Catwoman would be an easy $475 - $500 deal for them.
But yeah, they have to wait until interest turns around. Too bad about that Mime Joker -- I got it and love it. Great figure that can go almost anywhere in the house and get a laugh.

I feel like Mime Joker is an underrated release in a lot of ways. It took a lot of flack at the time but it’s a really nice release overall. The sculpt in many ways is better than the DX08 in my opinion. While it’s not his most iconic look that’s always been a scene in the film that stands out to me too so I can see why they thought to make it. The only reason I passed on it was because I didn’t have a Keaton Batman to pair him with at the time. Still kind of regret it because at one point Sideshow was offering a great deal on it.

I think you can still get the Mime Joker on ebay... he must be down to about $40 shipped by now.

Actually, looks like he’s gone up. All the listings I’m seeing are in the $275 to $320 range. If I’m going to pay that much I’d hunt down the DX08 which I still would like at some point.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yep with you there man ! Given that Lando will be back in Ep9 they've obviously pushed him back to ride the mini nostalgia wave at some later point. More chance of casual fans picking him up when the movie is in theaters too.
Just thinking about ESB Lando timing based on the above rationale. If their lead-time is about a year from release to production (although many are less than that with the pull forwards of late). And assuming they were aiming for an ESB version as the movie is in theatres. This would mean a reveal/pre-order towards the end of this year, start of next year roughly.
I personally don't think they would do an old Ep9 Lando imo.

Not just Howard, I'd flip if they made a Dark Empire Luke. He was one of my favorite Hasbro/Kenner figures, still is. If they made a Clone Emperor too?

I'd like to see a couple of Queen Amidala outfits, but first and foremost Geonosis Padme. Given how well Anakin sold, I'm sure they will do an EpII version, and hopefully an EpII Obi-Wan. That would just leave Qui-Gon and Mace for the most part to round out the main cast.

Gauging interest at cons?? Sideshow team at these shows don’t know **** about the HT releases or teases displayed at THEIR booth let let alone any of THEIR protos. At Celebration seems like they’re just trained to pitch the proto unpainted R2 (new at the time) and the demo pieces you could play with. Asked them about Tank Trooper and other Rogue One figures and they just gave me derpy answers.
The poll Hoody(?) brought up would give a proper sense of what collectors truly want. Internet HT... use it!

It’s amusing that most of you go and trash Howard’s fan interest in a property, but then expect him to listen and care to all your whines and demands. God forbid he enjoyed something you didn’t. LoL
Man, Howard hints that he'd like to make some EU figures, and everyone's upset?! Tough crowd. I'm just excited that I am one step closer to getting my Empatojayos Brand figure.
I’ll take a Mara Jade, Dark Empire Leia, Kyle Katarn and Dark Trooper and Grand Admiral Thrawn please
