Re: Rogue

Anyone else hear from ss yet?

Dear SMOOTH CRIMINAL

<BEGIN TEMPLATE>
We have seen a few collector reports on the web that some of the Rogue figures have arrived with some paint issues. We have opened some of the Rogue figures at Sideshow to inspect the paint and have found that a few of the reported concerns are due to the hand painted, custom nature of each piece. Please know that Sideshow has a generous returns / exchange policy for all of our items. If you feel that you may have a paint or detailing issue with your figure, please snap a photo and send it to our returns department so that they can assist you further! We will be updating our Rogue gallery shortly so that collectors can see pictures of a Rogue production piece!

Re: Rogue

:( You have my sympathies, Jedah. You'll be returning yours, I trust?

Indubitably. I'm going to attempt an exchange. I just sent the following message to them. In these circumstances I try to sound angry, but I refrain from getting nasty. I try to be as descriptive as possible and remain polite with refrained rage.

"I am highly dissatisfied with the outcome of this statue. The paint quality greatly differs from both the official pics and the prototype shown at SDCC. This statue is not indicitive of the quality that you usually produce. Both of the heads need to be completely repainted. The eyes aren't facing in the same direction on either one. The paint application in general is messily done on them as well, especially in and around the eyes/lips/hair line. The body has a sloppy paint application particularly around the piping of her outfit. Wherever there is a straight line the paint tends to go over that line and also on the X symbol on her chest. There is paint chipping and embedded finger prints on the base.
To make matters worse, the product and shipping boxes are slightly damaged. This alone, while it would be a bit upsetting, is not acceptable in light of everything else.

I have many more images, but the return/exchange form only allows me to post three. I can send them in a subsequent email, or you can go to the following link to see them:

https://sideshowcollectors.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3853610&postcount=5083

I'm keeping up to date with all of the many complaints being issued about this statue at www.sideshowcollectors.com where I am a member. Please don't tell me the copy/paste corporate response. If I need to wait for a solution then that is fine, but please just say only that if you have nothing else to offer at this moment."

Re: Rogue

Here's them pics. Just noticed some horrid paint bubbles on the EX hair behind/below her right ear, too. Great. :rolleyes2 I've highlighted the problems in a couple of photos. The last pic shows that the EX eyes are at least straight.

Thats a keeper, she love you long time. :horror

Re: Rogue

Here's Mine. Sorry for the horrible photo. I opened this late last night and didn't have time to take proper pictures. (This was taken with my iPhone.)

The Ex head is OK for the most part. But there are other problems. For example, the paint on the body seems to be of decent quality, and while it may not be noticeable, I can tell that the yellow needed an additional coat. The paint was too thin and the green underneath slightly comes through in some places. I honestly don't believe the thin yellow is enough to for me to complain about. (Its really, really minor and I think I only noticed it because I work in quality assurance for toys and collectibles and I have an eye for it as many other collector's do.)

But then there's the paint application on the lips...this is more noticeable because again, the paint is thin and broken up.

And lets not forget the white paint apps on the Reg head hair...they're absolutely horrible (I know others have mentioned this issue). I don't expect to see that level of bad paint application (hair-paint apps) on a $20.00 action figure, much less on a $300 collectible.

Before leaving to work this morning I went in to my collection room and gave a quick glance at my AH! comiquettes. None seemed to exhibit the quality issues apparent with the Rogue PF. Which leads me to believe and agree with others when they say Sideshow quality is declining.

I will definitely be giving Sideshow a call. SS may have produced many pieces that, imo, are great collectibles and worth their retail price. But when you're in this line of business (producing collectible products that retail for hundreds of dollars) there is no room for errors of this degree. A handful of mistakes is acceptable and expected. However, the errors (and that's what they are...ERRORS), on the Rogue PF are present on almost every piece I've seen on these and other forums and therefore represent an apparent drop in QC. In my professional opinion (and I know no one asked, but this is a forum) this is completely unacceptable from a QA and QC standpoint. At the same time, expecting a recall is ridiculous. What SS should do is offer correctly painted and inspected replacement heads and/or give significant SS credit to all that find this to be a problem. (By significant I mean more than 20 bucks.)

OK...end of rant. :)

Re: Rogue

Nope, when i called all they said is someone would contact me in 5 days. That has me worried cause either they are hiding from the issue or they are formulating a plan to try and make this blow over.

I hope they are trying to get ahold of the factory now, have regular edition rogue being done properly and get replacements for us.

Perfect email! Hope you get a non template response. Isn't Mike T. one of the customer service managers? Perhaps you should send it to him as well.

Thanks, but nah, that would be overkill. I'll just be patient now. In the meantime, however, she is so going back into her box. I had her on display last night and this morning, but after taking this new round of pics I just can't stand to look at her.

I applaud your approach, Jedah. It would be easy to get nasty under the circumstances but I admire your restraint whilst still getting your frustration across. And making SSC aware that you're active on these boards and won't accept a stock reply was a good move.

I'm really interested to see what they're actually going to do about this mess, if anything. SSC could lose a lot of customers if nothing gets done. Hopefully we'll all hear from them soon.

I wouldn't be worried over a 5 day response time. Try not be so negative about what it might mean. This issue is growing in size every day and they are going to need some time to come up with an appropriate response. Sideshow has never screwed me over before and I don't expect them to do so here either. :peace

im not expecting to be screwed over, but i do want SS to address this issue asap.

Side note i want to know if joker is being produced at the same factory as rogue. If it is i want him canceled and my $30 back. Dont want to go thru this again, specially with a figure thats mostly clothes where i cant do any patch work if needed.

Re: Rogue

Send them all back for a refund. What a disgrace this release has turned out to be. I feel bad for all of you who got duped on these.

Re: Rogue

Yeesh... These pics are depressing. I don't think anyone received a piece they are thrilled about and theirein lies the problem. If Sideshow wants to be the best at what they do, it certainly does not show here.

I found it easier to just put mine back in the box and out of my sight as well, so I don't stop and look at it everyday and get angrier.

Sideshow could save so much face (if the regulars are being done elsewhere) by offering those as replacements to us that are unhappy.
This is the kind of thing in business where they should just write off any profits they made, chalk it up as a lesson learned and do right by their customers.

It's not like we're dealing with McFarlane Toys, dropping $7.99 for a figure. A lot of us have collections that cost as much as it would cost to buy a brand new car or more.

Seriously, to have customers that loyal that they are willing to spend SO MUCH disposable income in this economy should not be taken lightly. If these screw ups continue, I have zero issues with re-channeling my disposable income into a new hobby and being content with my current collection of home-run statues, and telling friends "Remember when Sideshow used to be amazing?"

I don't want it to get to that point, they are a great company who made a huge mistake. Fix the mistake and quit pretending it's an isolated incident.
