1. Akira Kurosawa
2. David Lean
3 (tie). Charlie Chaplin/Alfred Hitchcock

Only True Living Legend (imho): Steven Spielberg. Scorsese and Cameron a distant 2nd behind him.

He's aiiight. But more of a legend in his own mind, like many other filmmakers of his generation. Most of them are quite talented but ultimately overrated, imho. I include Taratino in that list.

I'm really shocked to see Tim Burton on so many top 3 lists.

To me, he's always been a much better art director/production designer than a director. Really hard for me to see him ranking over directors like Hitchcock, Spielberg, Lean, etc.

I would as well. IMO this guy is a ******. I really don't think he's much of a director. Most of his stuff just doesn't hit me right and I can't watch more than just a few mins of it.
