Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi SPOILER DISCUSSION THREAD

Seriously.

I just saw the damn movie and i liked it lol. Been reading spoilers alot and expected the worst time of my life... Guess i'm lucky.

Wife, daughter, son... everyone liked it.

Ok, so when you watch episode 4, and they are talking about how accurate they need to be with a torpedo, you're not going to wonder why they don't just shoot a ship into hyper space at the death star? That's what I'm going to think about every time.

I realize it's a dumb movie, but my point is it doesn't have to be. Also, no auto pilot apparently.

Finn the janitor is a waste of space. He accomplished nothing. Trash.

Poe. Trash.

Little Rey lifted some rocks and beat up the red lobster guards with no training. The dudes that were there to protect Snoke, so they should be the best fighters available, killed by two kids with no skills. Trash.

Phasma can't shoot or fight. Trash.

Luke can't fight, knows nothing, did nothing. Trash.

Chewie is 800 years old and takes orders from a 20 year old girl. Did nothing. Trash.

Snoke...who is he? What does he want? What is his goal ...why Rey? Can see everything? Apparently not. Trash.

The first order. Trash

The rebels. Trash.

BB9. Trash.

R2D2. Wakes up from coma again shows video...goes back to sleep. Trash.

Yoda is the new Pa Kent. Trash.
I agree.

Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi SPOILER DISCUSSION THREAD

Wishful thinking, probably... But I feel like 9 NEEDS to have a time skip, because the first two movies taking place over like 3 days is a bit silly

I think it definitely will. At the very least they'll need to, to explain Leia away.

I think the last scene sets this up as well. Force ghost Luke helps train Rey and she in turn helps train new Jedi - maybe at the start, maybe at the end. But I think they will have to jump ahead.

After seeing this movie...

My thoughts are we should stop spending so much time and money on movies about people living in space.. and actually go into space for real.

Hell, with the cash we spend on making and watching movies the last 35 years, we could have populated the solar system by now.

How dumb of a species are we, really! [emoji23]

LoL...humans are not even suited to live in space anyway.

Episode 4 was filmed 40 years ago. I'm not George Lucas, maybe ramming stuff with spaceships wasn't a thing back then.

Focus on the positive, discard the rest and hope for a great Episode 9 with JJ.

Yeah they definitely need to skip a few years.

Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi SPOILER DISCUSSION THREAD

Why does Star Wars even need to be for a new generation, let alone reinvented for it? Today's kids like the OT just fine.

Really? I have 6 kids (26 thru 15) not a one of them has set thru the original OT. I watch them at least once a year and most cable viewings. They know the characters because of me and what films they’ve watched.

Film and television has changed quite a bit since 77 so it’s relatively easy to understand why SW has adjusted.

Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi SPOILER DISCUSSION THREAD

So who really is TLJ

After this film

First I thought Luke

Then Rey

Then Kylo

Now what..broomstick boy :horror

Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi SPOILER DISCUSSION THREAD

didn't like the movie. It was too much Disney+Marble on SW. Some part of story and mechanics didn't even make sense.
Good thing it will save me money from buying SW Hot Toys.

Apparently Rose now loves Finn? When did that happened?

Yeah, shirtless Kylo was super weird with that huge upper body and a tiny head.

I will be generous. My score is
2/10. And what is worst then this i must go next weekend to watch again with my wife.

Or not everybody thinks the same as you. Personal likes and dislikes. I like this film a lot and I am not one to say something is good despite being disappointed. It has several WTF moments that do pull me out of the movie. But I like where they are going with the story. Rian Johnson brought the characters I like in this new trilogy (Rey, Kylo and Poe) to places that I was happy with. Please know that just because you hate this movie doesn't mean everybody does.
But muh auteur

From what I have read here I have to believe everyone's coming from a good place as their criticisms match my own, it doesn't seem people are bashing for the sake of it. I see a lot of bitching and moaning here on the site, and sometimes its a bit much but this time I have to say its justified.

This was a Main numbered Star Wars film mind you, that didn't actually have a lightsaber on lightsaber fight...

Snoke a character incredibly powerful with the force, capable of using force lightning and moving people from a different room/interstellar telepathy was given no explanation or back story before being killed in the least intelligent/compelling manner. Nor was it explained how/why the Empire/First Order chose to follow him.

The Entire Casino sub plot was ultimately pointless as was Benicio Del Toro's Character including Captain Phasma as well. (Chromedome was a horrible joke btw)

Luke was the biggest sin and everything regarding how he was handled. Why did Yoda need to remind him of the power of failure as a lesson, he learned that in Empire. Not to mention why was Yoda, Obiwan, and Anakin not there to continue mentoring and instructing if they can appear at will.

These are only a few of the biggest things that bothered me, I understand the hatred on this one.

The positive would be the opening scroll and end credits, you're right I feel better already. :)
