Everyone making the plot predictions and wondering what they’re setting us up for... you’re thinking about it too much

Rians words on Rey’s parentage:

"I don’t think he’s lying in that moment — I think he is like telling what he saw and I think that Rey seems like she believes it in that moment. So for me, I wrote it as an honest revelation and as an honest kind of reaction to it, as opposed to a move in a game of chess.

"Now as we know in these movies, you know the whole idea of a certain point of view comes into play and as you know I’m not involved in writing the next movie. JJ [Abrams] and Chris [Terrio] are writing it so, I want to make it clear I’m not sure how it’s going to get resolved. For me the important part was saying it was an emotionally honest revelation, I feel like it, I don’t know, I believed it."

They don’t know

They’re making it up as they go along and there’s nothing to guess. Nothing is thought out and J.J. will just make up whatever suits him, he can even just reverse everything again like Rian did if he wants to

Someone mark this date i’m going to praise the PT here for a second.

Pod Racing > Giant Llama jumping

Now which is better:

Maul 3 way fight or TLJ red guards vs the wonder twins?

Not even close... TPM duel is far better.. The Red guards scene was cool in concept but average in execution IMO... Rey's move of dropping the saber to her other hand was cool but overall it was average.. It was better when I though Kylo went to the good side.. Figured that was somehow setting up better things with a new villain or something.

I’m going for my 2nd viewing tonight I will be alot less apprehensive now so lets see how this movie holds up.

SW is the only franchise that gives me butterflies in my stomach and turns me into an emotional nervous wreck on day of release lol.

Just got back from second viewing... Hmmmm... I think I just don;t care for these new stories.

What I liked

Kylo Ren - By far the best part of these new films.. The only character that seems to be having something going on around him and inside him all the time. His feelings, emotions, actions, all move his character back and forth... In the end it all puts him in charge of the new order.

Rey's desire to turn Kylo to the good side. I Liked that she had compassion for him...

Snoke - Nice and evil and well preformed.

Star Battle visuals were cool (sorry Jye but it has nothing on Jedi Death Star battle)

Mark Hamill's performance was very good and it was great to see Luke back on the screen.

Luke's interaction with R2-D2

What I did not like

The reason for Rey having all this Jedi power and such great control of it is ignored again. I have to assume Disney just wants to have her be the greatest princess ever.

The casino scene - Obviously but its jnot as long as I remembered so its easier to ignore.. Nice time to take a bathroom break.

The plots revolving around the starfleet chase, Finn, and Poe... Overly long and almost pointless. Could have been done better and quicker in some way. Would have been much better to have Poe and Finn on the mission together.. They are supposed to be the best of friends but they have been spent about 10 min together in this series.. I am surprised they even recognize each other.

Rose - Not as bad as the first time I saw her.. But she is worthless and I don;t like her personality at all.

The Luke and Rey scenes really drag the second time.. Almost an hour on that island and she hardly trains and really learns nothing of the force.. But she does not need to because she is the greatest jedi ever I guess.

SuperLeia

Luke being a hologram - It's a cool surprise the first time but once you know it.. Its actually disappointing that its not really Luke out there.

What I hated.

Laura Dern keeping her plan a secret.. Had she been a real leader like Mon Mothma, then Finn, Poe, and the rest of the rebellion would have known the plan and the rebellion would have had a lot more survivors.. She keeps it secret because there could be know boring subplots without it.

Plus here is an idea... Instead of sacrificing your ships and the captains on board.. How about all of them go in Hyperspace in different directions?? Cant trace all of them...

This rebellion deserves to be crushed. :lol

The overall story line.. Its just not grabbing me. You can tell that the OT and the PT had one person with an idea that saw it threw for better or worse.

The fact that the first film opened up all these questions just to not answer them is sort of frustrating and in all honesty very lazy.

Yest the OT did not explain everything.. But it did not need to. We were stuck in the middle and we found things out as the characters told us.

Problem with this is that these are based on characters and a Universe we already know. So just having a girl be great at the force goes against everything else we know before this... Who is Snoke and how did Snoke rise to power?? Where was Luke, Leia, Han and the rest of the galaxy when the first order began to rise up. How did Snoke Fill Ben Solo's mind with the dark side.. All of this would have made a far more interesting story IMO instead of a story about a girl who is perfect at everything.

And finally I am fine with the multicultural take these films are taking and putting woman in a position of power.. But please cast and write the parts better.. PLEASE!!

Anybody think Snoke could use cloning (hello EU) and because of that he can be that old and his physical form is so degenerated? So he can be back and Johnson just pulling our socks by his death?

Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi SPOILER DISCUSSION THREAD

Feel one missed oppertunity was having Lando, even as a background easter egg, in the casino. Known gambler and scoundrel, would have worked me thinks.

If he was shown in the background they probably would have shown him having a heart attack... :p

Mickey has decreed that all our old favourites must die. Who knew that the Mouse would be more of a threat to our heroes than the Emperor ever was, eh? :lol

Snoke’s demise reminded me of a loud mouthed arrogant leader being assassinated by his inner circle.

What is Disney trying to say.

Snoke mouthing off and everyone knowing he was about to get sliced in half was almost comedic in nature, it reminded me a lot of Samuel Jackson's death in Deep Blue.

1) Leia somehow always knows Luke is her brother, even tho up to then there is not one second of evidence of that - including laying a nice kiss on him. Fast forward and Rey has something inside her "that's always been there"?

This is the only explanation of Rey and her powers.. Luke and Leia's kiss went a bit too far one night and Rey is the outcome.. Why do you think they left her on a planet.. Had to hide the dirty little secret away :lol

3) So Snoke can't feel Kylo getting conflicted, but then neither did the Emperor feel Darth Vader getting conflicted either - whoops. Need to pay more attention instead of gloating if you're a mega-villain. Especially if you have been sneering at a super-special Skywalker! :monkey3

I thought Snoke could feel the conflict.. I did not think that was a question. He tells Rey as much and that she was not wise enough to ignore it.

Phantom Menace is better than this. It's not even hyperbole.

All those shots of the goofy alien creatures doing little jokey things for the baby audience was worse than anything in Episode I. There's that moment where that horse thing takes a nasty **** in front of Jar Jar's face or whatever, but not every scene was filled with crap like that. In fact, other than Jar Jar, there aren't even a lot of jokes in comparison.

Phantom Menace didn't have Obi-Wan extracting milk from a ****ing 10 foot phallic creature. Or Qui-Gon spewing "ur momma" jokes to Darth Maul. Every scene there's some kind of stupid Marvelesque quip, Episode I didn't have that. I'll take the thrilling podracing sequence over Finn and the Asian chick riding on goofy ass horse things or whatever that sequence was (like Rogue One, the night sequences were murky and dull as ****). Other than the midichlorian thing, the Phantom Menace never **** on Star Wars as a whole. This movie does. Every piece of dialogue from Luke, Yoda and Kylo Ren is a dig at the lore and franchise as a whole. Then the imagery? Name a shot from the Phantom Menace that's worse than Carrie Fisher blowing up only to survive and fly to safety in space.

Phantom Menace is considered dog **** by people, no denying it, but the Last Jedi is regurgiated dog **** that was eaten by another dog and vomited back out again. It's way worse.

Nobody is looking to have a pity party here, that's being a bit dramatic. Star Wars, for me, died a long time ago. We're all posting our responses to the crap we saw the other night. Don't worry, the criticism will die down and fade away. People on here wanted to know my thoughts on it and I gave it to them raw and in the moment. I'll forget about this **** by next year and fade away just like all the other movies and toy discussions on here.

100% this.

Grace's top 5 things for Ep. 9

1. Kylo and Rey: Full power and skills

2. Both sides (rebels/First Order) more competent

3. Less female focused

4. Keep the comedy

5. More Porgs

Neither alive or dead....

You best start believing in SW ghost stories, Cap'n Cook. You're in one!

:lol

Well played!

Snikt, I think I misunderstood your post. I meant it will always carry on and on and on as a business, whether it is 'dead' to die hard fans or not (if that was what you meant by dead).

Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi SPOILER DISCUSSION THREAD

Lol.... Here's Rian Johnsons thoughts on Rey's parentage

So yet again they literally have nothing planned and they're making it up as they go along.. Who's to say JJ doesn't pull a TLJ and just reverses everything one more time? Basically everything you watched literally means nothing.

What is this whole story group for then? All it took was one man before.

Heres the problem with these multi movie franchises. Instead of having one director see the project through, its like some half ass attempt at letting everyone get a chance to direct (see everyone gets a medal mentality). If you have 1 director for the trilogy, there can at least be some semblance of continuity. And if a director says they only want to direct one movie, get rid of them. They obviously have NO interest in the project if they are unwilling to commit to 3 movies.

I'm not sure if this was a studio decision or some stupid JJ Abrams decision that led to this debacle.

I agree second highest opening in cinematic history just screams massive failure and the death of SW around the world lol

Oh Snikt you so cute I could just pinch your little chubby ruby cheeks.

Look at ea and their lootboxes, fans complained and changed the industry.... this is the bubble of nerd fandom is about to pop, i mean wait until IW, hahaha everyone here praising TLJ is like DC fanboys praising JL... and its true.

This movie is as useless as the casino plot, it served no purpose what so ever

Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi SPOILER DISCUSSION THREAD

So this is my first post even though I have read the forums forever. I hate this trilogy with a passion. They basically took a giant dump on the end of return of the Jedi. Everything the rebels did meant nothing at all, as a giant army rules the galaxy led by a dark wider. Han went back to smuggling, lost leia, and died a horrible death. Rather than being the greatest hero ever, Luke was a bitter guy disconnected from everything and died alone. The slow space chase was the worst plot point in movie history. They had an immense fleet. No ship could get in front? The whole movie was a turd.

Rey's parents? That was all they could give us? Two years of hype? What a crummy plot and horrible way to kill Luke. This trilogy is fan fiction to me. Bring back Mara jade thrawn and talon karrde. Heir to the empire was a better trilogy and a fitting way to end the skywalker arc. Rey and Finn and kylo should have happened 500 years after Jedi and just be a new chapter not related to Luke at all.

Trying to cypher this mess..

These movies are nothing more than a mind **** designed to steal money in mass.

I’m with Elon, build rocket and get the **** out of here! [emoji23]
