Is that the new cgi porn technology that the news was talking about???

jye4ever: Saying that Rey is awesome because Trump is a Mary Sue.

Wor-Gar and JAWS: Saying that Captain Phasma "sucks as bad as Die Hard."

Strange times indeed, lol.

Well trump did better in one year than obama did in 8

:dunno

Yep. He's moving down Di Fabio's TLJ Stages of Grief. I think 'at least its's better than AOTC' comes next.

:lol :lol

Upon my first viewing, I could see how feminists - with enough coaxing - are able to toot their own horn and herald TLJ as a sort of feminist victory but after seeing it for the second time last night, I can't help but feel the opposite. The Force is Female critics seemed to conflate the power dynamics between Leia and Poe or Admiral Holdo and Poe as moral victory against toxic masculinity or misogyny yet wasn't it the fault of Admiral Holdo that the resistance was reduced to scraps facing the threat of being completely wiped out? Had she simply stated the plan from the get-go, Poe, Finn and Rose would not have concocted their plan to destroy the tracer thing which lead to using Benicio giving up the information of fleeting pods to a nearby base to the First Order. Has anyone came up with a good argument as to why Holdo withheld her plan?

With Rose, I didn't have a huge problem with her character per se - except for that cringey line at the end and the notion that someone could fall in love with someone in less than a day. My problem with her, as shallow as it sounds, was that she was not attractive enough. I do feel a bit horrible for saying this but I believe had it been the actress playing her sister playing the role of Rose, Rose would have been better received by the audience.

Without referencing any individual poster, I recommend people look into the work of Jonathan Haidt. He's social psychologist and academic researcher who studies what I guess could be described as the psychology surrounding morality.

His research, and that of other researchers, whom he builds upon, indicates that the strongest form of prejudice operative in America today is directed at people who do not share one's political and moral worldview. There's a desire to demonize and essentialize people with differing views.

crows is Trump a Mary Sue?

Yes or No?

You just said he’s a great president yet he never even served as a mayor and knows nothing about constitutional law yet you say he’s great at everything because he did in 1 year what another president WHO HELD A CONSTITUTIONAL LAW DEGREE couldn’t accomplish in 8!

Is Trump a Mary Sue?

After seeing this abomination, the next guy who tells me that the Spinosaurus and I-rex "look horrible" is gonna get socked right in the nose.

Meh, who cares about the top ten. Enjoy what you like and like what you enjoy. No film is perfect. Possibly not even to the directors themselves, and some of them have huge egos.

This. :lecture +1

I love how people say the all-time box office list "doesn't count" because there are "crappy" movies on the list but then trumpet low numbers in China or Ecuador as "proof" that the film was a disaster, lol.

Outgrossing The Dark Knight's lifetime earnings: Doesn't matter
Being outgrossed by a rom-com on one weekend in China: THE ONLY THING THAT MATTERS

;)

:lol :lol :lol

No kidding. People talk like its supposed to mean something. They talk like they have some stake in it (actually I own Disney stock so I guess I DO have a stake in it in a way) and I couldn't care less about foreign gross or how far its dropped money wise in a week.

Avatar #1 in money = Total garbage of a movie. End of story.

I liked TLJ and I will buy it on Blu-Ray and enjoy it again and again.

I own Disney stock too and how far it dropped money wise never crossed my mind either. :lol

I liked TLJ and will own the blu-ray and enjoy it again after it drops in stores.

Watched it yesterday and it came across to me as a failure of communication due to mistrust on both sides. Poe would have been heard out by Leia. And on the opposite side, Leia would have let Poe in on it. Again why they should have mentioned the possibility of a mole to at least explain to the audience why Holdo was keeping things under wraps. They want you to think she's doing the wrong thing though as you're supposed to be siding with Poe/following the story through his viewpoint. Where they failed is in the writing to make the whole scenario a bit more plausible.

Wor-Gar hates Die Hard AND thinks Trump is a great president?? This thread keeps getting weirder and weirder...

:monkey3

I'm moving UP the stages of grief. I'm at "TLJ is better than Citizen Kane" right now, lol.

Oh man :lol

You notice how I never got an answer to my yes or no post from you know who wink wink lol

Wait, hold the phone, when did I say that? Defenders of TLJ stoop to new lows in their pursuit to dismantle everything like their new favorite movie.

:lol :lol :lol

A black Rose?

Holdo just strikes me as a poor leader.

You're self-aware enough on the Rose's appearance angle, that criticizing it would be pointless.

As for substantive criticisms of Rose:
a) She prioritizes freeing the race animals over liberating their caretakers, who appear to be human children living in poverty, if not enslavement.
b) Prevent Finn from making exactly the sort of honorable sacrifice required by war.

Yes! It just made Admiral Holdo come across as an incompetent leader.
