Robert Rodriguez's PREDATORS Movie Thread - SPOILERS

I'm not anti-change, Wolf's my 3rd favorite Predator, I just don't like the look of this at all, it just looks poor, and I'm not even like against it because it doesn't look like a traditional Predator design, it just looks bad, period, in any movie, I would feel it a weak design. It almost look like a cheesy B movie creature.

Stallone had similar surgery and looks much better than Arnuld.

keep in mind Stallone is using HGH and getting botoxed more than the whole cast of hags from sex and the city.

Like Filthyrich pointed out, Stallone openly admits he uses HGH and even defends his use of it He was also busted with 48 vials of HGH down in Australia and was charged with illegally importing performance and image enhancing drugs. He pleaded guilty.

Say what you will about AVP & AVP-R, but those Preds looked more like a Predator than Mr. Black. I think some1 mentioned the lack of a "crown" head on Mr. B was not cool. I agree.
And Mr. B's face looks too much like a spider IMO. The profile doesn't look too awful. And yea, I'm still going to see this flick.

I guess this would all be relevant if they weren't a subspecies of the existing predators.

Exactly. The design is garbage. Has nothing to do with nostalgia, or wanting it to look exactly like the previous Preds. It has to do with the design looking absolutely horrid. It looks like they stole the design from "They Live" and just added some Predator features and then said "Paint it as fruity and as gay as you can!"

Pics seem a bit spoilerish. I see one almost certain death scene for the big russian guy and things aren't looking good for the hero predator in those shots.

Maybe because... they totally do die in the movie?

I'm with you and MaulFan. It does in fact look cheap. Poor. B-movie quality. There's a reason for why they look the way they look, and the AVP designs may finally have their time to rightfully shine after these new bugs hit the big screen. I'm okay with them as long as the designs are handled well in the film (sound, movement, deeds, etc.), but judging by pure pics, my heart sank a little bit.

I will admit that the more I look at these, the better they seem (plus in figure form, these would probably look fantastic). And the profile does look pretty decent. The subspecies backstory MAY just save them for me (and they're not the weirdest thing I've ever seen). But really, they totally could've redesigned these without making them look like the spider from "It."

Take P1 for instance. If P2 was never made and came out now, then P2 could be considered the new breed of Predator. After all, he certainly looks different. But still with some Predator vibes. BSP looks like they took something totally new, and the only hint of it being a Pred is the four mandibles and dreads.

Time will tell. I'm still totally pumping myself up for this no matter what, and will welcome the movie with open arms (can't be worse than AVP-R -- THAT was a B-movie altogether). In the end, we're still getting a TON of new Preds, which is pretty cool in itself. I'd gladly try to catch this opening weekend and buy all the NECA figs (and one HT fig of my favorite Pred from it; probably Falconer).

When it comes to collectibles the problem will be those figures won't have the luxury of dark lighting, etc. So things like the Popsicle dreads are gonna look weird.

Berserker has reddish colored dreads (looks like just the tips):

Falconer (!?) has green and brown dreads:

But the worst is by far this Predator:

He has like turquoise dreads and even the dread beads are turquoise.

Ok so is this super pred is going to beat up the original pred. Is this a prequal or a sequal. Becuase i thought he dided.

He's not the same Predator as the one from the first movie. He looks the same as a nod to fans of the original film.

I just realized what would fix the new designs for me. Notice how the lower mandibles curve sideways, instead of upwards (like normal)? All they have to do is adjust those, and I'm happy. IMO, those are what give it the heavy spider vibe.

I doubt it, I think Topher does. Please, sorry if it has been cleared up that he hasn't. I haven't been following very closely.
