If this is true, I hope it happens. LOTS of great possibilities with Galactus and Silver Surfer under the control of Marvel. Especially with a Guardians movie in the works! And of course that other little movie, Avengers 2!

Marvel Offers Fox DAREDEVIL Deal In Exchange For Characters From FANTASTIC FOUR Universe
Well, this is quite a surprise. Recent reports claim Marvel Studios is will to offer Fox more time to development Daredevil, with Joe Carnahan directing, in exchange Fantastic Four universe characters.
DCMarvelFreshman - 8/6/2012

According to Variety, a potential trade-off is under discussion between Marvel Studios & Twentieth Century Fox. Including a potential director for Daredevil, the report indicates that Marvel is willing to cut a deal with Fox, that'd offer the studio production time for the reboot, before his rights are reverted back to them October 10th. However, what's more interesting is what, or rather who, Marvel desires in exchange. The report reads:

“Fox is in discussions with Joe Carnahan to direct what’s been described as a “Frank Miller-esque, hardcore 70s thriller” take on [Daredevil]. Sources say Marvel would give Fox more time to make Daredevil in return for the rights to use characters from the Fantastic Four universe, including the giant, supervillain Galactus, and future use of Silver Surfer.”

In regards to Joe Carnahan (The A-Team ), he's been a fan-favorite to helm the reboot for Matt Murdock, especially since David Slade exited from the project. And regarding Marvel-Disney/Fox deal, the reports says that Galactus and Silver Surfer are among characters rights desired from the Fantastic Four universe. And The reboot for the four is still on Fox's slate, with Josh Trank (Chronicle) still on board to direct. What do you think?

Seems like a pretty low cost move by Marvel, considering Daredevil might never even see the light of day if they had the rights anyway. And Galactus/Silver Surfer make for great Galactic villains that could pose a legit. threat for the Avengers to battle.

Of course, the biggest potential boon from this deal from the Marvel Studio's side would be this:

I have no clue if Fox has the Namor rights or not, though.

If they have Namor and Surfer, and don't do a Defenders movie, then they will be great all-time poopy heads.

Would be the purest of comic gold.

Haha, you knew this ____ was going to happen.

Fox and Columbia are probably just going to keep cranking out crappy movies to hold onto their respective rights to the characters.

This would be a pretty dumb move for Fox. Unless it also included piles of cash. They shouldn't let Disney/Marvel off that easy.

Well as I think about it, if Marvel is also giving up guys like Kingpin (a major baddie in the Marvel U) and Bullseye (a key member of the Thunderbolts), then it isn't like they're getting off with no costs themselves for characters that could well be used in future movies focused on the Avengers and their foes.

Marvel really needs to get the rights for Mephisto from Columbia. . .

If it happens, it's best for the fans. Marvel gets back Galactus and Norrin allowing them to be used in cosmic type films and Fox can make a gritty Miller Daredevil that doesn't fit into the Disney/Marvel worldview for their films.

As a Daredevil fan I'd rather he revert back to Marvel. He is a more important character than both Galactus and Silver Surfer.

Losing Galactus and Silver Surfer will put an interesting cripple on the planned Fantastic Four reboot, unless Fox is planning on letting that go and trying to get stuff out of Marvel before they decide to let it go?

Marvel definitely is looking for Guardians of the Galaxy to help kick off the Cosmic angles so this plays into their angles but saving Daredevil seems like an odd move for Fox who you'd think would pet heavier on the FF franchise than the Daredevil one especially since Punisher went back to Marvel and most of DD's cast of side characters that aren't held strictly to that license (which is slim) isn't available.

This deal doesn't make much sense.

Maybe both companies would still be allowed to use Galactus and the Surfer through this agreement? If it's really Fox prepping to let go of the FF, then it really doesn't make sense from a business POV because they are showing their hand with a weak opening move, and lessen the value of the relatively much more valuable FF later.

Yeah, it would be entirely one-sided. Sounds more like wishful thinking by Marvel (and the fans).

I'd like to see the entire Fantastic Four franchise go to Marvel, eventually followed by X-men. I wouldn't be surprised to see FF move over because it's still a risky franchise unless quite a bit of money is spent to get it right--and even then given the lukewarm track record there are no guarantees. However putting them into the next Iron Man movie could be a better way to build interest. Xmen is a lot tougher because the first two movies were bonafide hits, even if X3 was middling and while FC better received critically it's numbers we're still average to below average relative to expectations. Not to Mention Wolverine was also so-so. That's why the next FC and Wolverine will probably be make or breaK for Fox to decide if they want to keep chasing that brass ring or make a deal with marvel to either co-produce to buy back. Id just like to see Singer 1000 miles away from and more rebooting. There are far better superhero movie directors and producers out there now, who should have a crack at one of the coolest and visual teams in the Marvel U. One of the first orders of business would be to to get a decent core lineup back -- Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Angel, Iceman, Nightcrawler, Storm, Wolverine, Rogue, Colossus, Gambit, and a bunch of cameos like Polaris, Havok, Beast, Psylocke, etc, ditch the biker wear, break out the Sentinels and brotherhood, and create a kick-butt story that could go toe to toe with Avengers at the box office. Marvel can do that. Not sure if Fox can because they've locked themselves into Singer's version of Marvel U.

This would be interesting indeed. Not sure why they'd just want a handful of characters instead of just the full license back. I mean Galactus is a good villian for the Avengers, but so would Dr. Doom. I'd just like them to get the whole FF back. Let Fox keep Daredevil. He and his characters are far less important in the big picture view of the Marvel Universe than FF.

I just wish Marvel would have kept Spidey from getting renewed.
