Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

Not a single film ever, survives today's trend of; as you call; fabricated criticism.

Yeah, and you mention HISHE and Honest Trailers which it seems like everyone wants to be now. But at least in the beginning HISHE and Honest Trailers stuck to highlighting pretty valid criticisms to the point where the Russo Bros famously made it their mission to make TWS "Honest Trailer proof." That's actually awesome because it could only have contributed to the filmmakers striving even harder to make an awesome product that not only wows people initially but stands up to repeat viewings and scrutiny.

But all the copycats out there that are ripping apart things that were NOT done wrong are cheating and it just muddies everything. I can see studios going "okay we specifically explained why the Squad was called in to fight low level threats and rescue Amanda Waller and then we organically had the stakes change mid-mission in order to get them face to face with a being much more powerful than them. But everyone just ignored the explanations, pretended we had none, and ripped apart the story. **** it then, instead of explaining things in WW we'll just add a couple more action scenes to pad our numbers in China."

Good job reviewers and internet comedians.

But you can't trust the enchantress. She may use Superman against everyone else. He's faster than a speeding bullet, and how fast can Waller get to that heart?

I agree that Waller's confidence in being able to stop that heart before Enchantress got to her seemed misplaced. But she did have some sort of proximity trigger on the briefcase and could have been trusting in Enchantress believing that if she killed Waller that someone else would have used the heart to kill Enchantress. Who knows. Waller played a dangerous game but that's her character.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

But honestly, what could these characters do against someone like Superman?

Superman is dead, bury it.

This team was formed for the next meta human like superman. Not superman himself.

Enchantress and Diablo are the two big ones, not to mention this is the first "draft" of the team. Their goal was to escort Waller, not take out Enchatress. Why do you think Waller had the JL's files? She knows her odds.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

Gaspar, can Enchantress beat Superman? People here think magic = Kryptonite :dunno
I don't know how powerful this Enchantress is, but in the comics she's pretty easily controllable and her powers are not really reality-bending or anything.

Also, Superman isn't weak to magic, exposing him to magic doesn't take away his powers or weakens him like Kryptonite does, he's just vulnerable to it, say if Zatanna were to magic-slap both Supes and Bats, it would hurt the same to both :lol

So magic characters can be very effective against Superman, so my answer is yes; magic characters, including Enchantress (I can't speak for this movie's version though) could contribute to disable or kill Superman.

BUT I don't know if the movie itself establishes Superman's vulnerability to magic. Regardless, in the squad they could introduce a tank-type character, say, Black Adam, to use in the Squad as a Superman counter-measure.

Although I have no idea how would the manage to tame that beast :lol

And even if to Superman Kryptonite = lead bullets and magic = rubber bullets, well, if you're trying to defend the president from terrorists and you're out of real bullets but have a few clips of rubber ones what do you do? All you can do which is spray the bad guys with rubber bullets and hope for the best. Enchantress was their "best" line of defense in their minds so they put their eggs in her basket.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

But her main argument was Superman, so you can't discount the idea of someone like him. What if Lobo comes to Earth. Does magic work on him?

As I understand, magic works the same on almost everyone, since it's, well, magic :lol

Only characters with magic properties can con do something about it.

The thing is, the Squad concept isn't really wrong for a counter measure to Superman, their first mission in the comics IIRC is to fight a Kaiju-sized villain, with a similar roster as the movie's, they just need an appropriate roster to fight each situation.

When they fought Macro-man, they also had Deadshot and boomerang + Enchantress, I believe that was the intention in this movie until Enchantress went rogue, right? They also had blockbuster, which is a low level "tank" character.

So I believe Enchantress could come in handy against Supes, the rest of the team could work as crowd control.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

You can tell Waller was banking on Enchantress the most. "I saved the best for last."

**** just went AWOL and she happened to have a expendable team to get her out of it.

things don't go the way Waller wanted them to go in this movie.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

Enchantress was going to cut Superman with her knife and Kung Fu fighting :lol

Only if she wants to recruit him. :nono She specifically told Incubus to make the Squad bow to her as opposed to killing them. When she fought the whole team at the end she then stated that they proved worthy to join her, again implying that she was pulling her punches and simply testing them.
