They do look amazing, but it's just kind of a bland shooter IMO. I hope I'm wrong and crysis 3 is amazing. I would love to see what it looks like on my pc.

I dont own a pc gaming rig and have always owned consoles but crysis 2 maxed out looked amazing.

I like them. The campaigns are usually really fun to play. The only thing that worries me is if I get bored of the whole jungle feel... I dont know to much about this so im hoping the settings are fairly varied.

Here is the Kotaku review: Not good.

On PC graphics/performance.

Before I dig too much deeper into the design or the writing, let's back up and talk about the tech. That's why a lot of people play Crysis games, after all: They want to make their PC beg for mercy, they want to set their post-FX slider to "low" for the first time since buying that new graphics card. They want to play this game and think, "Yeah, but in three years, when I have a new PC, I'll play this again." Call it aspirational PC gaming. We want to taste the future, even if it gives us indigestion.

I'm running an Intel i5 2.8GHz with 8GB of RAM and a GeForce 660Ti graphics card. It may not be the hottest setup money can buy, but it's not too shabby, and it can run Crysis 2 with all the high-res-texture bells and whistles at a consistent 60 frames per second. It can also run pretty much every other PC game I have, from The Witcher 2 to heavily modded Skyrim, without a hitch.

My computer certainly choked on Crysis 3. I played a review build of the game that Crytek had put together last week, and the game's performance was erratic at best, with some combination of medium/low settings giving me solid 60fps before dipping down to 30 or 25 in certain scenes. Only by dropping every setting to "Low," turning off antialiasing, and running medium-quality textures have I been able to get a consistent 60fps at 1920x1080 resolution. And even then—sometimes it'd drop.

I've been following this NeoGAF thread with interest, as players there have been trying all manner of high-end cards and are reporting similar performance dips. Almost no one seems to be able to get the game to run at maximum settings without taking a significant framerate hit. That said, this stuff is very difficult to get nailed down—I installed Nvidia's newest drivers today, and didn't really see a noticeable improvement, despite the fact that they're optimized specifically for Crysis 3. I'm still playing with textures on "medium" and all my settings on "low." Then again, you may not care about framerate as much as I do. Responsiveness is key for me; I'd rather play an ugly game at a steady 60FPS than a pretty one at 30. And it's worth reiterating that even on low settings, Crysis 3 looks very nice.

I like the idea of a future-ready PC game. And I don't doubt that in three or four years, people will buy this game on sale just so that they can run it maxed-out on their new 8GB GPUs or whatever, just like I did with Crysis in 2010. But at the same time, I have to say that I find Crysis 3's under-performance to be a liiiittle bit of a bummer. The game isn't just demanding, it feels poorly optimized. The fact that it seems unable to maintain a consistent framerate unless I dial it all the way down and even then has dips makes me think that it's just not that well-constructed or stable. It's likely that future updates and patches will iron this out and make the game more consistent, but for the time being, it's a real bucking bronco.

On a related note, the Xbox 360 version of Crysis 3 is a big step down from its PC big brother. I played an hour or so of the 360 version just to see how it compares, and the difference is remarkable. It's still plenty okay-looking for a console game, but it doesn't move all that well. It's too busy for the Xbox's native resolution, and the jaggies and low-res textures make everything look muddy. Not only is the game lower resolution and lacking any of the DirectX 11 particle-porn the PC version so regularly smears onto your screen, the Xbox version's framerate is quite sluggish, which makes it less pleasant to play.

All that said, yes: If your interest begins and ends with extremely high-res PC gaming, Crysis 3 will slake your thirst. And a part of me enjoys that Crytek struts out and throws down this crazy game that's less an entertainment product and more a gauntlet, daring PC gamers to throw their machines against it with reckless abandon. The studio has done a marvelous job positioning itself as purveyor of a product that users don't deserve to use properly. It's hard not to admire their chutzpah. "This game is so awesome-looking that you can't even play it for another two years," they say. "But you know you're gonna buy it anyway, because you just want to see how you stack up."

In summary: It's totally playable as is, though it'd be nice if the damned thing worked a little bit better. And a further caveat on the graphics: While the game looks amazing in screenshots, it doesn't always look so hot in action, even on PC. Animations, especially facial animations, are stiff and waxy. The motion capture is odd, combat animations can be stilted, and characters regularly leave huge gaps of silence between lines of dialogue.

I don't really see that as a negative. Not really anyways. It's too bad for console players, but that should be expected at this stage of their life cycles. People complained about Crysis 2 being a console game that was ported over to PC, so I was hoping Crytek would puts some ***** back into the franchise and it sounds like they did. At least I hope that's it and not just poor optimization.

Wait..I can't write out the word b@lls? Seriously? This forum is ridiculous sometimes. What if I'm talking about practically any sport we have? Jesus, can we be adults here?

ign review is up. sounds and looks pretty good. 8.5

Will pick this up next week. Still need to finish farcry :-/

Nobody get this one today? Ive put a couple hours in tonight. It's one of the best looking games I've seen yet. Really nice art direction, presentation and just great graphics in general. It seems a bit tougher than 2 also. 2 was on the easy side though. Early still, but I'm digging what I've seen so far. Love this new run down city.

It does look incredible--on 2 GTX 580 in SLI it just barely does high settings.

Yeah, this thing gives gaming rigs a nice workout. Only thing I don't care for with each new Crysis is how linear and scripted they're becoming. There's no real freedom in the game at all. Sure, you get large rooms now and then to deal with however you want, but it's not the same as the large playground feel of the first.

I plan to pick it up on Friday. I've played the first two (on PS3) and really dug the hell out of them. Since I don't have a suped up PC, PS3 will have to do. Really dug the first game.

:panic:HOLY ****!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! those are the words that can explain the awesomeness of Crysis 3, For those who havn't bought it, forget the reviews and spoiling your self with comparison shots, for console owners forget the PC elites, as they have to justify buying an expensive rig (yes the pc offers a much more graphic glory master piece, but at the same time the xbox 360, and im sure ps3, is AMAZING on what its hardware offerings are, I am honestly Blown away at what this li'l 7year old box is rendering before my eyes... graphics alone even the story is somewhat better, but the grahpics, holy crap the graphics... Plus the Multiplayer has improved lightyears beyond what we were offered with crysis 2, which i loved crysis2, and every since a few days waiting for this new iteration to come out was surprised, from reading on forums, to see i was in a limited group of people, IMO the MP Demo was Fun and made me buy it, much because it reminded how much i loved crysis 2, but the demo shared the same issues crysis 2 had (jerky framerate, sound issues, lack of options/upgrades), but seeing the whole package, i think they might have hurt themselves letting ppl play the beta mp demo because the final version is a WHOLE lot more polished and feature packed. I think one of the coolest ideas is the mode CELL VS REBELS, which is a playlist that goes thru all of the other modes but with the use of no Nanosuites, (SO there all you, "cloak is gonna ruin MP again people out there) this mode is alot of fun!!! Im very pleased to see that MP runs smoother and looks even better than what the Demo showed us!!!!!!.....

!HOT TOYS PLEASE!
I don't know about anybody else but NOW is the time I have Ever wanted more is a HOT TOYS NANOSUITE, can just imagine now that the nanosuite would have this awesome rubber like texture and polished metal trimmings (I'd pay 250-400) for a high quality figure, but my guess is this games really gonna have to sell before we see that ...

That's an impressive wall you built there. Thanks for taking a shot at us PC gamers too. Glad you like the game.

I take it your playing this on the 360 ? How does it compare graphically with 2 ? - which I though looked amazing and still one of the best.
I fnished farcry 3 last night so im getting ready for this :)

This one is a bit more open than Crysis 2, but still less than Crysis 1. Overall I think it's a big step up from 2.

And BTW--the PC graphics on this are much much better than the console version

You think so? So far, I haven't been able to really move anywhere except through the paths they gave me. I'm sure there will be plenty of open spaces scattered through out, but I'm guessing they'll be like they were in 2. Come to a small area where the objective is to just get through it and how you do that is up to you. Itd be great if the city opened up and you could just go around and do your own thing Farcry style. Oh well.

I've done a bit of sneaking, but I'm having more fun just blasting everything in sight in this one.

Yeah, Crysis 2 was very restrictive, this one so far gives a pretty wide area to get through stuff, there's no one way to get through it. There are still some areas where you're going down a corridor, but then there's stuff like early on where you have to avoid the tower where you have a really huge area to walk around in.

I know what you're talking about. Maybe it's the heavy scripting in this game that making it feel more controlled. 2 had a lot of that too, but...it just feels more confined to me. Thankfully, it looks fantastic and is a lot of fun, so it doesn't ruin anything for me.

I would love for that to be the direction Crysis goes in. A Far Cry 3/Skyrim version. But I do think in order for them to accomplish this, they may have to pull down the graphics somewhat. But that would be a small price to pay for open world Nanosuit goodness!!

Wow how awesome was far cry 3, really loved that game, have you heard they are adding an outpost reset feature (free addon), taking over the outpost was one of my fav. aspects of the game... Yeah i have crysis 3 for 360 and yes I to thought crysis 2 was a marvel to look at and yes its very hard to believe but crysis 3 looks even better than 2 and looks btter than far cry 3.

Just let yourself be surprise and don't taint your expectations of comparison shots of pc vs 360, because the pc of course is much better looking (more objects, higher detail, sharper image), i mean the 360 has all the important graphic aspects, such as the great lighting effects, extra lens flars, camera blur, they even during mid game during the story were you lose control of your character (still can camera pan around), they pump up the graphics which is very noticeable when they do up close facial shots and you just simply say WOW, you literally cant believe what your seeing, its impressive because there's no load time in between gameplay and quick story telling only between levels, which there is no load time if you install the game and watch the cinematics

I had sound issues in the sp, but i suspect it was because i was downloading my free copy of crysis 1 in the background (which i dont know why they would allow that) while i was playing it because when i tried out mp the download stopped and so did the sound issues.
