Re: WGP's Classic Battlestar Galactica thread (Apollo WIP up!)

I'm about to post up the new revisions so lets see what you guys think about SB then. All crits are appreciated.

As far as different versions of Starbuck, if the numbers are there, definitely. The problem with certain characters like Starbuck is that there are a FEW iconic looks you can go for- smiling, serious, w/cigar, etc.

Personally, my Starbuck is going to be in a firefight against Cylons so I wanted him non-smiling because he wasn't cocky in fights, he was scared. (but I lost out on here-laugh. Everyone else wanted him smirking or smiling).

So if enough people ever want another version of a character we make, we are good to go.

Otherwise, I am not sure if everyone is aware we will tweak any of our sculpts for you for $150 to give it a different hairstyle, expression, etc to customize it just for you. :)

I feel your pain. I would have preferred no smirk as wel. I think the sculpt would have been easier to "nail" earlier had the smirk not been such a deterrent.

I dunno. Chu and I were talking and like Sean, he was saying how difficult Dirk was to sculpt because reference wise his head looked different in every single picture, (for both face and hair- and trust me, I gave them LOTS of ref), so Dirk just has one of those face's thats hard to capture.

I also want to give a massive round of applause to Mr Barlow who offered crits on Starbuck for us, and particularly to Sean for being willing to ask Chu to take a look at his Starbuck and fix it. Artists obviously have to have a bit of an ego to do what they do and I am sure it wasn't easy asking someone else for help after all the revisions and time he put in, but thats how much he cares about our projects.

Any chance to see the awesome Starbuck sculpt with short hair so we can make a custom Faceman?

The current SB hair is kind of in between both characters and should be short enough to look like Face Man.

The plan is they will be vailable in Nov. They will be getting printed next Wednesday, then they need to be sent to Sean to be sanded and prepped for molding. Then they get sent to the molder. The prepping process is always the longest time. :)

Finished pics of both heads and hair styles are on our Facebook home page at warriors gate productions. I would post them now here but I am at work all day (the website banner below will give a peak though!) :)

We are gonna do a few Classic Trek heads, A few ANH SW heads, a few Dr Who heads, then we will swing back around to classic Galactica for a new set of heads! :)

I've heard the name "Harry lazer-brains" thrown around. Maybe "your highness". :)

Yep, aware. Not into the PT/CW for collecting. Although she looks incredible.

Would also love me an accurate ESB "jedi master, hmmm" and a ROTJ "dark dictator". Also an accurate "whip cracker", too. ;)

As for "Galaxy Battles", anything can go next but that will be up to interest in the future. It doesn't even have it's own thread yet.

We could get a LOT of use out of a Cushing sculpt though. Doctor Who? Hammer Horror? :monkey3

Once we have Harry Lazer-brains digitally sculpted, "Whip Cracker" has been discussed as another very hard head to capture we are itching to take our own stab at so we will.

Anything Goes.

I read that you guys were planning on doing uniforms and gear for the BSG troops.
You guys should tackle the new series. Just thinking about Baltar and Number 6 sends shivers down my spine.

We are indeed doing costumes for the classic Galactica crew. They will very detailed because those classic Galactica costumes are the collest costumes EVER. They will have metal buckles and quality arm patches. (We just need to figure out how to do the costumes gold and black ornamentation.)

The heads will be coming out first as our tailors are busy on other projects now. First up will be the male Colonial Warrior outfits and then the dress outfits with the capes.

Then we will do the female versions as we release a female head wave.

In time we would be open to doing characters from the new BSG series as long as the interest is there, but since they need special costumes and the tailors ARE all busy, not anytime in early 2012.

Just for clarity - will we be able to get complete figures from the parts, or will we require some parts from the original Galactica figures.... I didn't realise how god-awful the Starbuck sculpt was till I looked on ebay today. I'd prefer not to buy one solely for one or two parts unless I really have to.

Thanks for asking! Originally I had said we were making just the fabric uniform parts and for boots, guns, helmets, holsters, we expected you to use the Majestic bits, because it seemed like everyone who wanted 1:6 Galactica stuff owned them already and likely wouldn't buy ours if we made them (for that reason).

However, more people seem to be asking us for full costumes, which I LOVE! I had already been feeling maybe we should be making our own boots with buckles as it was.

I am honestly still not sure about making the flight helmets. Our heads were not made to wear them. They were made to look correct when NOT wearing helmets.

Saying that however, we might be able to rig up a new helmeted head of each character with a battery hidden inside to make the helmet light up if we found someone talented enough to help up with the light parts. Cool right? But how in demand is that trick without a cockpit?

Ultimately, what I mean to say, is that YOU GUYS need to put us on notice for these. Tell us please if you want us to make the costumes complete, (with gunbelts, guns, tech thigh device, etc), because clearly we are here to do the best job possible. We just don't know what you guys need to buy.

Thanks!

Fantastic news as far as I'm concerned! The new BSG is probably my all-time favorite series, and I'd be interested in a few characters.

If a Re-imagined Baltar Suit was in the making Id be down for one dependant on the final result

Re: WGP's Classic Battlestar Galactica thread (Apollo WIP up!)

Definite PASS on any new BSG.
As for the classic? I'm still in for the sculpts and would be interested in seeing what you come up with beyond what was already announced.

Re: WGP's Classic Battlestar Galactica thread (Apollo WIP up!)

You know, I am not sure if I showed off the final Starbuck hair, so here it is. I wanted to let you guys know these will be both be ready in a month (the time for the printing, cleaning, molding). The cost per head is $55, + $5 shipping to bubble_gum_gothATyahoo.com (with the AT replaced witha @).

because people have asked me in PM's, yes there is a special offer on these. To encourage people to order both characters and to apologize for the long wait on these since thr thread was first announced, the first 10 people to order both Starbuck and Apollo together will only pay $50 each, and the shipping is also combined saving an additional $5, so they will save $15.

Thanks!
