Re: Jason Reitman's GHOSTBUSTERS: Afterlife - Summer 2020

The kid from Stranger Things is 16 years old. That means his mother (Egon's daughter) must have been born in the 80's to be old enough to have a teenage son. There was zero mention of Egon being a parent or a husband in the first two films. I hope that doesn't mean he didn't know about his daughter or that he was an absentee father. That would be terrible. And if this film gives Egon an off screen family back in the 80s, that's just lazy writing because there was no indication of him being a family man.

Yeah, you could maybe get away with it if there was just one movie, but no mention of Egon having a child in either 84 or 89 is a bit off.

Egon also just doesn't seem like a Dad at all in either movie - none of them do, they're all kind of juvenile man-child freaks really.:lol

Re: Jason Reitman's GHOSTBUSTERS: Afterlife - Summer 2020

Egon could have adopted a child to experiment on.

Especially since it seemed like he and Janine were somewhat flirting with each other in their own deadpan way.

Exactly - I don't understand what goes on in the minds of these writers - do they honestly think no-one remembers stuff that happened 30 years ago? Even if you're a kid, it's all handed down to you. Christ, and these days, the whole of man's experience is on the net. Bizarre thought process.

It must be a strange magically number in Hollywoodland?

Kids are stupid, and these forum members are old.

Most 20 something I get to interact with know nothing if it happened before the 90?s.

If all the stuff that happened in NYC was constantly said to be a hoax, I can see it easily being swept under the carpet .

Why are we even talking about this? The entire premise of GB2 relied on them being broke because the got sued and no one believed what happened.

Its literally the same thing except this time its 30 years later.

We never did find out if Alice was menstruating.

Um, not you, Alice!

A hoax? At minimum hundreds, maybe thousands or many thousands saw, first-hand, ghosts and the undead - simultaneously - as crazy lights swooped over the city and stuff blew up. A ten story tall marshmallow man walked through NYC, presumably seen by thousands, and climbed a building. How can the **** all that be a hoax? :dunno:rotfl

I mean seriously...

A shocking number of people believe the Earth is flat. Never underestimate the ignorance of the general public.

I don't believe the first sentence. I totally agree with the second one though.

Per Scientific American, In a recent study only 66% of millennials believed that the world is round.

Re: Jason Reitman's GHOSTBUSTERS: Afterlife - Summer 2020

At least the trailer went in an interesting direction and includes a cast that will motivate folks to go see it. I expected it would be a big yawn, but it looks to have Stranger Things and Goonies elements, Paul Rudd, and the old guys. Could actually work.

Easy.

People think they’re seeing ghosts. And they call these bozos who conveniently show up to deal with the problem with a fake, electronic light show.

Re: Jason Reitman's GHOSTBUSTERS: Afterlife - Summer 2020

I keep thinking that as well. A millennial having a 16 year old son now is kind of a stretch. I mean you know, presuming she didn’t get knocked up as a teen.

Out of the four, Winston seems like the one that could have possibly eventually became a family man. However, I suppose you had to have one of the founding three be the ancestor if equipment was going to be bequeathed.

A Millenial can have a teenage son if she was born in the 80's. The problem is we know Egon had no ******* kids in GB or GB2. So if he did have a daughter after the events of GB2, that means it would have been in the 90's. The Stranger Things kid is 16, so he was born in 2002. She would have been like 12 years old. Now, if she was born in 1984, then yes she would have been at least 18 in 2002, which is young, but not unusual.
