Well, threw my hat into the ring for the contest. Doubt I will end up collecting these figures, but that would be a neat one-off to own.

For those interested in picking this up from a retailer, I'd keep an eye on BBTS' SDCC pre-order page. Bilbo's not up, yet, but I'd be really surprised if he didn't didn't get posted at some point, given the popularity of the license.

On July 5th we here at TORn exclusively announced that The Bridge Direct would have an exclusive at Comic-Con for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey with their “Invisible” Bilbo Baggins figure. Well, today we are pleased to help the folks at The Bridge Direct announce and show off the details of their entire line of collectibles from The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. The three figures we’re pleased to show off are Bilbo Baggins, Gandalf The Grey, and of course Thorin Oakenshield. These figures will range in scale from 3.75″ figures, 6″ figures, 2-Packs, Battle Packs, and Deluxe figures. Fans will also be able to buy replica deluxe sword ($14.99) and a replica deluxe axe ($19.99) both of which will help fans recrate battle scenes from The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. These collectibles will go on sale online in September of this year and will be found in stores a month later in October.

I like Bilbo and Thorin...
not too crazy about Gandalf, the Toybiz one looked better...
still, I don't think I will collect these... But it's good to see Hobbit figures!

The figures look pretty good...not loving the Gandalf either...but the Thorin looks good. I'm sure there will be differences between the scales from a quality and paint detail perspective too.

Bilo and Gandalf look horrible. Thorin is passable at best. If Bridge wants to run with the big-boys they have to up their game.

Why does this stuff look half as good as the ToyBiz line at twice the price?

When Toybiz launched their line, the first couple waves of figures weren't that good as far as articulation and likenesses. Having said that, though...action figures have come a long way since then...and these are a flash back to FOTR series one...for all the WRONG reasons. These look very cheap, little articulation...and the paint apps look like crap. The toybiz stuff from 8 years ago is far and away better than this stuff.

I don't know, these seem to have no POP in the grand scheme of collectibles hitting the market in this day and age. Statues have come a long way, Lego is in the mix as well. I feel little need to have an action figure representation of a character now.

Not a collector of Toybiz and small action figure stuff. Bridge Direct's line still not impressive enough to start this collection. Only picked up the invisible Bilbo because it was an exclusive.
