What a lame analogy.

Clintons are still wealthy regardless of loss.

Trump also used a ton of money to run that’s a given who cares.

There’s always a winner and always a loser during any major election and the loser still gets to go home wealthy.

Very amateur crows you can do that better than that.

TLJ already profitable and has already paid for the next movie especially with media and streaming sales.

SW lives, shocker I know.

Hey you know who’s going to be in IX, that’s right Mark Hamill the TLJ hater.

What good did money do to the prequel trilogy?

Alright.

Is that billion gonna protect the Rose actress from future mockery and ridicule? From bullying?

Is that billion gonna protect Finn from racist bullying?

Because the hundreds of millions that the phantom menace definitely protected little anakin from being bullied for years...

Those movies came out 15 years ago and we still mock them.....

The actors in the prequels still get mockery to this day
" BUT THEY ARE RICH durrr"

Being rich doesnt take away your insecurities or take away your ego or somehow magically protect your feelings from getting hurt

Having money doesnt automatically erase your feelings...
You dont think actors get panic attacks or depression?

" TLJ made a billion durrr everything is good in the world durrr"
What about the damage to the brand? What about the bullying the actors are getting? Even holdo.

You guys use the billion dollars to defend this movie but after 15 years you still mock the prequels.....

Come on now....come on.

The movie has made 1.3 billion WITHOUT China. :lol

More than 3x its production AND marketing budget and perhaps maybe even 4 x its budget without China.

What a true disaster lol

Let's just take a look at the top 2017 earners in China to see what types of films that country embraces:

1 Wolf Warrior 2 $854,248,869 7/27
2 The Fate of the Furious $392,807,017 4/14
3 Never Say Die $333,937,573 9/30
4 Kung Fu Yoga $254,531,595 1/28
5 Journey to the West: The Demons Strike Back $239,553,888 1/28
6 Transformers: The Last Knight $228,842,508 6/23
7 Youth (2017) $209,163,027 12/15
8 The Ex-File: The Return of the Exes $200,575,464 12/29
9 Dangal $193,050,870 5/5
10 Coco $184,172,937 11/24
11 Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales $172,277,290 5/26
12 Kong: Skull Island $168,188,002 3/24
13 xXx: The Return of Xander Cage $164,066,583 2/10
14 Resident Evil: The Final Chapter $159,548,686 2/24
15 Despicable Me 3 $158,171,566 7/7

So why did China reject TLJ? Um apparently because it isn't white hot GARBAGE. FFS that list looks like a line-up of nominees for the ****ing Razzies. Thank God that TLJ isn't anywhere near those films.

I walked away from Pirates 5 and Kong with clear excitement, I walked out of TLJ without knowing how I felt about it at all.

You can say good bye to china as a market for Solo andfor episode 9

I hope the billion this made was worth losing that business.

I like to think that most actors and actresses have thicker skin, but you just described one of the many flaws our society is currently plagued by.

Some can’t disassociate the actors from the film itself. Sure, sometimes they are legitimately bad, but even then... to go out of your way and scold them directly is idiotic.

A comment in passing about their poor performance is criticism, but not bullying. Anyway, fans these days make everything into a ****ing vendetta.

Jye and khev keep going " billion dollars billion dollars billion dollars!!!"

Disney has marvel and pixar. Disney has the orlando theme parks.

Money is of no concern to disney. They make a billion in their theme parks a day. From food, tickets, toys, clothing...

But the actors are gonna pay for this movie for years....
Look at all the kylo memes we share.....
I made a lot of jokes about Rose but i feel kinda bad for her.
Imagine logging online every day and get hundreds of hateful bullying messages....

Even if you have the skin of a rhino....thats gonna get to you.

These actors can even get death threats...

But " muh billion dollars durrr!!!"

They read the script.

They took the job.

They took the money.

And the majority of viewers are happy with the result.

:dunno

As Darth pointed out, there's a deeper societal issue that's at the heart of the problem, not the studios.

The roll of Hollywood is providing an escape from our lives, making a divisive piece of art does not make the studio at fault for the outcome it has. Disney is not to blame if people are cruel towards it's actors based on a movie they produced, poor morals and behavior of those who choose to use their outlets to attack people over something as silly as a movie is the problem. Raising children right and passing on good values is where good behavior will come from, not movies or TV or comic books or any of that. If media has that much power over how people are growing up and turning out, then they're not be raised by parents and taught how to be, they're being raised by idiot boxes and growing up to be idiots.

The point is that the billion dollars doesnt shield from the brand damage. The billion dollars doesnt go to the actors pockets. Not even the director.
A billion dollars doesnt erase the damage done to future movies

The last Resident Evil movie made it on there...That's great :lol

As DarthBakura and MaulFan wrote, Disney doesn't have control over morons who choose to bully actors, or grade movies based on whether an actress wasn't attractive enough by their standards.

I want to know the % of SW fans who are die hards that must own every SW movie.

Raise your hand if you’re one of those SW movie completists.

Mine are up I own the PT!

I bet a high % of TLJ/Kennedy haters are still going to give Disney $30 for TLJ bluray.

Disney is aorry that you’re upset and they thank you for paying to watch TLJ, buying TLJ bluray and IX tickets and the eventual IX bluray lol.

I got the PT/OT bluray set from a few years ago. Watched the first 4 and didn't finish. :lol No disney on the shelf. :lecture

If this was a reboot of the franchise set 100 years after ROTJ, and they wanted to take it in a “new direction” with no Skywalker lineage, new force powers, Mary Sue characters etc etc I could overlook more of the garbage...

But don’t sell us on a “continuation of the OT” and then crap all over the central character (Luke for those who’ve forgotten) and then sh** on the storylines from that OT universe.

Disney and KK tried to have their cake and eat it too. They wanted to take the franchise into the millennial Harry Potter style universe, but also wanted the old school fans to pile into theaters, so they hype Luke, and we’ll you know the rest... they ended up with a pile of burning garbage that the majority of the audience hates (49% rotten tomatoes).

Jye and khev keep going " billion dollars billion dollars billion dollars!!!"

In response to your attempt to create a narrative of box office disappointment because of one country with absolute **** taste in films? Yep, we'll bring up the billion dollars each and every time. :D :wave
