I don't know, but considering the average PF is now $300, they've doubled in price in just a few short years. I remember when the Nosferatu PF went up, I thought nobody would buy one at that insane price of $150 :lol

I was going to order it but I didn't like it. I hope that those of you who did, got it.

Sound like my experience with my first PF. LOL.

How much does it run now ?

Seems to depend on the weather these days. I would say between $300 and $400 on average (don't mean to make it sound like they pop up often, because they don't). Once in a blue moon the SS version pops up and sells for around the same (which is strange to me considering it's much lower ES). There are always those isolated incidents though where people with excess cash to blow get in a bidding war.

:rotfl:rotfl:rotfl I remember seeing the SSE Wolf Man PF on sale for $112.50 and thinking "Even at 50% off, these things are really pricey!" :gah: :rotfl

Here's an "Ask Sideshow" question from a few months ago:

https://www.sideshowtoy.com/?p=13565

Would you guys call this a "much more satisfying follow-up" to the dios? I know I wouldn't. I thought the dios were fantastic. Why would they stop the dio line if not for poor or low sales? I don't recall if edition sizes were posted right away for the regular dios, were they? It could be that, while the dios all eventually sold out, the ES was lower than Sideshow had hoped. :dunno

Listen, I'm not trying to piss all over this piece, it's not bad, but it's not great either. If classic monsters do continue in this form, then great, maybe the next one will be better. But I will say that I am seriously chapped that the dios are no longer going to be made in favor of this.

The dio's ES's were 600 for Frankie/Wolfman and 500 for the other two, though I don't recall if those ES's were posted right away or at a later date. I loved the dio's though I've never been a fan of 1/9 scale so I think in my case, yes, 1/5 scale statues are more to my liking. Perhaps, as you say, SS had hoped for better sales from the dio. line, but let's face it, no matter what the licence, dio's are traditional amongst the worst sellers....even where Marvel and SW are concerned.

I remember thinking the same exact thing - and feeling as if I would be the very few buying it. I was trying to envision the size and the presence it would have in the room. After that it was much easier to order. Of course being that it's Orlok I was totally excited to seem him in this weird crossing of statue with cloth AND semi-poseable! It was more about coming off of that kind of cash to go into unknown territory.

SS guages interest within specific lines, and acts accordingly. They do not scap an entire licence because one line within that licence is not doing well. Poor sales of the SSE Creature bust has nothing to do with the dio. or PF lines, both of which have been quite successful.

I said "line" not "license." Given that both the SSE dio and SSE bust for the creature are still there, I would say that's a pretty good reason as to why we haven't seen anything else in those lines, hence the pause while they developed the new statue line.

No, the SSE dio is not "still there"....and were not going to play those word games here, are we? Since we both know full well that waitlist items [such as the SSE creature dio, as well as every other UM dio., colour or otherwise] are sold out items, and being on those waitlists means nothing. There is no guarantee that anyone's waitlist will ever convert, and the longer an item is on waitlist, the smaller the odds are of it ever converting. There is also no time limit as to how long an item can be categorized as a waitlist item so I think we both know full well that item's such as the SSE Frankie/Wolfman, Dracula and Creature dio's are long gone. And SS simply not getting around to updating their webpages isn't going to change that.

I pre-ordered Nossy ex., and I dont even have a conventional 9-5 right now. Because I wanted to support the line. I can probably get someone to pay for this for me by painting commissions on kits. I think it's good. Not as good as the dios, but good. Honestly---the dio line was axed way too quickly. Too much more to offer that was scrapped. Just to name a few "coulda beens"

1. Phantom unmasked w/ Christine lying on the floor
2. Frankenstein with the Bride
3. Chaney Mummy carrying girl
4. Nosferatu on deck of rotted ship with dead captain tied to the wheel
5. Abbott and Costello with the three Monsters as a two piece set. A&C. One with the monsters and bases interlock.

Dude, why are you being such a ____? You jumped on me for a post you misread and now you're nitpicking the ____ out of every aspect of it on some unfounded tyrannical rant. I said line, not license. A license can have several lines, a dio line, a 12" line, a PF line, etc... so chill the ____ out. Bottom line is SSC gauges interest by how well the products sell. We know this based on what's been put on hold and what's been canceled across the many lines and in some cases, full licenses. They've stated as much in chat on numerous occasions as well as in several Q&A's. Knowing that, and knowing the Creature SSE dio (which, yes, is waitlisted) didn't fly out near as fast as the other dios (which I'm certain they expected despite doubling the ES), and the SSE bust is still rotting on the website, it's a no-brainer why SSC hasn't put out anything else UM until now and why it's in a completely new format.

For some strange reason, I have a feeling that on this particular piece, there may just be about the same regulars produced as the exclusive. I like it, and would want the exclusive, but it's just not great enough to warrant a preorder and NRD. Especially after two in one week for me which were fully unexpected. I'm not going to allow myself to get stacked up with commitments to statues, and am going to have to really love the preview to hit the order button.

Well after reading your post and comparing it to my last one I certainly agree that one of us has gone on a tyrannical rant...and I think your bright enough to figure out which one it is. :lol And I'm pretty sure I clearly highlighted the aspect of you post I did not agree with [hint : it's the underlined part :monkey3]. I'm also pretty sure that's the only part of your post I based my last response on. Your reasoning that the SSE Creature dio. is "still out there" is ridiculous, as is your claim that SS halted production on the dio. line because a 1:1 bust hasn't sold out yet. And to say that SS was disappointed that a dio. [Creature] with a preset ES of 100 took an hour sellout instead of 5-10 minutes, and that somehow factored into SS deciding to pull the plug on the dio. line is bordering on psychotic..... :cuckoo:

Agreed, they axed the line way too quickly. Even if SS didn't want to put the time, effort, and money into this line they always could have sought to purchase the licensing rights from Jeff Yaeger to re-produce some of his classic resin model dio's. :(

I like it, and it's Creepy.. but I feel like we have been here before...I also agree with what's been said, that SSC is starting a new line and maybe by using this Vampire just as they did with the PF the magic may happen again. Still I can't hit the buy button, and it will be interesting to see what other UM figures they come up with.. I would have also liked to see a UM monster not done yet in the 1/4, 1/5 scale... "Son of Frank" would have been nice or "Lugosi Ygor" ... I would have really enjoyed a PF of either of those. A Mr Hyde PF, or The Invisible Man PF in his robe, or perhaps The Werewolf of London..:) There just seemed to be more ground to cover but.. we shall see....

That is probably my biggest concern with the new line. I would have started the line off with something never-before-produced. Son of Frank would have been a perfect choice.

It's hard for me to really want to jump into this line because the pessimist in me doesn't see too much of a future here -- yeah, yeah I know if I don't buy Nos it doesn't have much of a chance to begin with.

The dios are done after just three, and UM isn't a license that will exactly crank out multiple pieces a year (think 2-3 max).

The base looks excellent, but I am not really sold on the facial sculpt.

It's true that we only got 3 dios, and there were several more that could have been made, but the ones we got are fantastic in their own right, and I wouldn't trade any of them.

The way I look at it, I'll take what I can get. And, since I missed out on the Nosferatu PF, at least the character is now represented in my collection.
