It's the stylized look that's really making me go to this piece. It is stylized, isn't it? Or am I crazy?
Well after reading your post and comparing it to my last one I certainly agree that one of us has gone on a tyrannical rant...and I think your bright enough to figure out which one it is. And I'm pretty sure I clearly highlighted the aspect of you post I did not agree with [hint : it's the underlined part ]. I'm also pretty sure that's the only part of your post I based my last response on. Your reasoning that the SSE Creature dio. is "still out there" is ridiculous, as is your claim that SS halted production on the dio. line because a 1:1 bust hasn't sold out yet. And to say that SS was disappointed that a dio. [Creature] with a preset ES of 100 took an hour sellout instead of 5-10 minutes, and that somehow factored into SS deciding to pull the plug on the dio. line is bordering on psychotic.....

It is indeed not too obvious, but I see it the most in the way the cloths where modelled, and not so much in the portrait.I guess I'm not seeing this piece as a stylized interpretation of the character. Looks pretty good to me.
Thank you!nice pic, alice!

I dunno if SSC even has an active Universal Monsters license. Thats probably why Nossy is getting released first. No fees, and interest can be gauged on his sales statistics.
This was already answered in a Universal Monsters related Ask Sideshow Q n A some time back. Pretty sure Nosferatu (though not actually Universal) is kicking off this new line-

Is a Son of Frankenstein Silver Screen Edition in the works?
With regards to Universal Monsters at large…it’s been long understood that it’s been a Sideshow staple and you can expect and exciting resurrection of that in late 2010. Son of Frank – duly noted.
I am aware of the quote---but I remain cynical. With good reason too. It wasnt that long ago when Sideshow announced an exciting new line of dioramas featuring the Universal Monsters. A line that bit the dust three entries in. Nosferatu could very well be the only one we see in this proposed line.
Besides, I, for one, am tired of buying underwhelming ____ I don't necessarily want, for them to get to the characters I do.
I hope every one of these arrive damaged.
...Why would they stop the dio line if not for poor or low sales?... It could be that, while the dios all eventually sold out, the ES was lower than Sideshow had hoped...
... Perhaps, as you say, SS had hoped for better sales from the dio. line, but let's face it, no matter what the licence, dio's are traditional amongst the worst sellers....even where Marvel and SW are concerned.
...Since we both know full well that waitlist items [such as the SSE creature dio, as well as every other UM dio., colour or otherwise] are sold out items, and being on those waitlists means nothing. There is no guarantee that anyone's waitlist will ever convert, and the longer an item is on waitlist, the smaller the odds are of it ever converting...
Agreed, they axed the line way too quickly. Even if SS didn't want to put the time, effort, and money into this line they always could have sought to purchase the licensing rights from Jeff Yaeger to re-produce some of his classic resin model dio's.
I hate to say it, but the dios just didn't sell that well... I have it on good authority that the dios "sold out" because Sideshow stopped sales and didn't produce the entire production runs. So those edition sizes of 600 and 500 on the three dios, may not be the true production numbers made. They have done this many times in the past... anyone remember the 40+ Hellboy Right Hand of Dooms that Sideshow "found in the warehouse" but were "back ordered" when Hellboy II came out? They were back ordered because they went back into production to finish out the edition size that was never reached the first time around. Others pieces not fully produced include the Berni Wrightson Frankenstein bronze bust, Tremors maquette, LOTR medallions, etc., etc., etc.
So, with that in mind, if you want this line to continue, and I think you will , buy Nosferatu and support the line! Trust me, they are further along in character design in this line than many of you would think!
