I'm fine with ScarJo and I think it fits, since apparently they're doing a story from the series and not the 1995 movie.

if it fits a story/character, any race can be used, if it doesn't, it's retarded. In this case it fits. She's an ok actress so that's more than sufficient to play Kusanagi.
