Awesome.

Awesome indeed...but I still prefer the way we first saw the lightsaber ignite in theatrical release.

okay so this is how Luke gets his saber inside of R2. and showing him tinker with it to make it green. Pretty sweet. LOL at the guy yelling "YEAH"

You can hear everyone's excitement. It's a scene long known about, was in the novelization, the music cues were included in the Special edition CD release, and images of the fully opening saber prop have circulated for years with ef/x bringing one to consumers sometime this decade. A lot of excitement to finally see this scene.

very cool!

and on a related note, the ending Gary Kurtz wanted-

https://latimesblogs.latimes.com/he...lmmakers-george-lucas-and-gary-kurtz-wer.html

“We had an outline and George changed everything in it," Kurtz said. “Instead of bittersweet and poignant he wanted a euphoric ending with everybody happy. The original idea was that they would recover [the kidnapped] Han Solo in the early part of the story and that he would then die in the middle part of the film in a raid on an Imperial base. George then decided he didn’t want any of the principals killed. By that time there were really big toy sales and that was a reason.”

The discussed ending of the film that Kurtz favored presented the rebel forces in tatters, Leia grappling with her new duties as queen and Luke walking off alone “like Clint Eastwood in the spaghetti westerns,” as Kurtz put it.

What prop is this? did they make a lightsaber that looked like it was worked on?

"I see you have constructed a new lightsaber." hit the 1:50 mark

i would have been happy to exchange the episode 4 jabba scenes for this scene.

I think they only put that scene in there so Boba Fett could make an appearance. One thing I thought to myself during that scene was, jabba did a lot of eating after this.

I'm glad that they did not go with that ending. And having Han die after being rescued is lame. It would have been like the early part of the film was nothing but waste.

Yes, they have advertised it for over a year, I think. Maybe longer.

the thing i hate the most about the jabba scene, is that it is the exact same dialogue exchange as the greedo scene. the exact same.
