Although, based on a historical battle it keeps it's realism lose enough to have some cinematic license. I'm not really bashing it.

The BBC has been running a great historical series lately hosted by Bettany Hughes and they are brilliant.
The Alexandria and Spartan ones are worth check out.

The best explantion I've heard for the film, (I think it was by Bettany Hughes Eamon) is that if you look at it as it is, a Spartan telling the story to his comrades, it makes perfect sense. The spartans would have seen 250,000 soldiers as an endless army. They would have seen the Immortals as monsters (as well as someone with a deformation) etc etc...

Wow that is awesome. What a great way to see it. Makes perfect since in the use of voice over and the ending.

Yup that's exactly how I look at it, there's some "embellishment" along the lines of making it Spartan propaganda.

in the Customs thread one of the guys has used the leonidas body to make a spartacus figure & sculpted the armour & shield looks amazing,
I wouldn't mind having a crack at a diorama for these guys

Tony Stark's comments are lame and overdone.

To be fair, 300 it is actually rather close to historical fact. Not in looks now, but in story.

Leonidas did indeed hold back the Persian army with what is told as 300 men. Xerxes was considered a god King.

Check out anything by historian Bettany Hughes. ;)

With respect, I have just as much right to post my opinion on subject matter (rather than, in your case, an opinion on someone's opinion) as the next person.

If you want me to substantiate my opinion on the film, I think it was one-dimensional and little more than porn/violence. I liked the book, but the film was a let down.

Well then you might want to consider using words like "in my opinion" as apposed to just declaring something as 'aweful'.

There are things in life that are just plain awful and that most people will agree upon. The movie 300 certainly isn't one of them. But anyone does have the right to express otherwise. I don't see what good can come out of it, but they certainly have the right.

That said, the figure KICKS ASS! Got mine last week and it rocks! Now I need to put that x-acto to work...

Well, in my opinion, Iron Man was exceptionally boring, which is sad considering I rather like Robert Downey Jr., and enjoyed Sherlock Holmes very much. It's all opinion, and we're all entitled to them.

300 is a fascinating movie to me because it's NOT supposed to represent reality. It's supposed to be the Spartan storyteller telling the tale to a massive assembled army, and therefore the story is over-the-top, dreamlike, and fantastic. Xerxes is 13 feet tall (impossible), the Spartans are all built athletes who kill thousands (doubtful) and the traitor is a warped human being (beyond anything realistic). It's a story embellished in the telling, and THAT'S what makes the movie interesting. You're living in the mind of a Spartan warrior imagining these events, being angered by a storyteller with an agenda.

All my opinion, of course.

Change of Topic-

I just got my figure from my LCS a few days a ago and this has to be one of the best HT movie figures yet.

I do have one concern reading the directions though. It says at the bottom of the page:

"REMARK: Muscular body might get dyed by fabric of the costume after a certain period of time"

Anyone have any idea how long "a certain of period of time" is supposed to be?

I have my figure on a shelf with other HT figures out of direct sunlight so I hope his shoulders and neck don't turn red from the cape resting on them.

Wow, never saw that. That would suck. I wonder if I should wash the cloth and get the excess dye out.
