I'd be intertested to see a stretched version of this repaint... you listening HigHurtenflurst?? :D

Yup!! :banana

Maybe just me, but I still think it looks better squished a little.... (And re-painted! Kudos to whoever photoshopped the paint-job -- great work!) Sure hope we can see more pics soon!

Here's a different interpretation on the head thinning, just cuz I can't resist playing in Photoshop :) The width of the image was just brough in slightly, then the eyes/nose/mouth of the original image blended into the altered head.

your take looks pretty good maulfan -- the only thing that seemed like it could be tweaked on trev's sculpt was the cheek area -- seemed just a smidge too puffy in the cheeks area -- nothing that would be a deal breaker -- think the sculpt looks great, but, if one thing could be tweaked. . .

LOL, haven't seen the "fan corrected" photochops in a while :lol:lol:lol

And most of them still suck. The squished head look aweful.

Adams and Maulfans recoloring shows Han is there much more. The brown hair makes a huge change.

I think we need to see more angles first.

I'm fully behind the sculpt as it is, with all the photography I've been studying and doing for the past 3 years, one thing I'm fully used to is the ability of camera angle and zoom to distort, so I've come not to put heavy investment on images without having the item in hand to judge distortion.

I don't even think the cheeks are wide, I think the lighting that's there just doesn't give proper depth perception on the face. I think once people see it from other angles, opinions will change.

I'm really on the fence with this one. I recently sold my Bespin Han as I was never that happy with it, and really thought that when we got ANH it would be kick ass. However, as with the Bespin figure, I'm just not "feeling it". I'm hoping it has a lot to do with the paint and the horrible lighting that SS always uses. The picture on the right shows that there is definate potential there. SS needs to have a word with their painters and hand out a few pink slips!!

I think I'll skip the PPO and pick one up cheaper down the road so that I can get someone to do a nice repaint for me. No Star Wars collection is complete without ANH Han!!!!

That looks better. But i pray every day: Let Hot Toys do Star Wars onesixer ;)

Does hot toys really have that great a record in nailing human likenesses? Their Jack Sparrow was good, but I can think of a lot of examples where they (perhaps because of licensing issues, granted) didn't get anywhere near the actor they were supposedly portraying.

And as much as I like some of Hot Toys stuff, I don't think I would want to pay their prices.

In the past say 6 months, when HT's had the likeness rights, they've nailed it.

Sylvester Stallone, Keira Knightley, Orlando Bloom, Chow-Yun Fat, Johnny Depp, Carl Weathers, Dolph Lundgren and Mr. T have all been captures very well by Hot Toys of late, sometimes paint apps are an issue but sculpts are good.

I'm happy with Sideshow's sculpts and line, I don't think the license needs to change hands, and the shortcomings Sideshow does have will thin out through their collaboration with Hot Toys.

??? The last 2 Rambos, all the Pirates figures, Jor-El are all spot on. I don't think all the figures would be expensive.

But if you want the best true 1/6th figures, you gotta pay.

Thats very true, however, why is it that people spend $150 on an amazing HT item and then have the head repainted with no complaints, and yet repainting the head of a $60 SSC figure is out of the question?

I'm thankful for SSC, because they put very nice figures in my price range. I feel that HT makes the best looking figures out there, but I can't justify paying that much for a toy. Even if I hit the lottery I wouldn't buy everything, because I wouldn't be able to give them the attention they deserve.

That's a good question.

I can definitely see Travolta (circa Grease, 1978) in the banner pic above, I think mostly due to the eyes. It doesn't mean the sculpt is off, I remember the first preview pic of the 1/6 Anakin Skywalker actually looked a little like Arnold Schwarzenegger! :lol Its all about the angle, lighting, and paint.

For reference, here's the Bespin Han preview image and the original Prototype figure shot used to make it.

I agree completely. If there's one thing I learned when sculpting Ford's likeness, it's that the man has a tendancy to look completely different depending on what reference you're looking at, especially during that early stage in his career. This is why I think direct photo comparisons like the one above are often futile, and is also one reason Ford has been so hard for sculptors to nail 100%. That said, I've SEEN Trevor nail Ford 100%... Hell, I've seen Ford sculpts by Trevor that look more like Ford than FORD does. All in due time...

Trev, you're a *****in' genius!

:chew:chew:chew:chew:chew:chew:chew

Couldn't have said it better myself Andy. :rock
