I dunno about anybody else, but I really love the customizing and repainting that goes on. When we all post pics of what we've done, it's like we all bought the same model kit, went off and put it together seperately, then all came back to have Show & Tell, compare notes.... I find that it's half the fun of 1/6 scale collecting (for me)... I've gotten more ideas off of this forum than anywhere else on the Interwebs.

Toys slow down global warming! Whee!

-AH!

I agree with you 100% bro. It makes this hobby that much more fun. I love seeing all the different approaches to the same figure. Someone else may nail a likeness and it just pushes the rest of us to do even more with our attempts. This place especially is like a hub of custom work, I love it.

This is the last straw! I'm done with Sideshow!!

I wonder which character will be next.....
It HAS been awhile since we've seen Jedi.

Jedi?....Jedi who cares about Jedi give me Imperials and OT characters. I remember when every one complained SSC sold the chess table but no one to go with it. Now we have Obi Wan, Han, Leia and no doubt ANH Luke in the year or so, these are indeed great time to be into collecting 1/6 Star Wars.... Though I may not want to buy each figure that comes out, but I sure enjoy seeing the new releases and the "Great" Customs & modes that are done if only I was so brave ( but I fear if I paint one I will have to paint all to match). This isn't a dead on likeness but I think thats mainly lighting and paint apps. Looking forward to seeing the full figure and accessories :emperor:cool:

Ford's likeness is hard to capture because his likeness changes so damn much.

Anyone else think Ford sometimes looked older in ANH compared to ESB? And then he looked even younger in Raiders.

I'm really on the fence with this one. I recently sold my Bespin Han as I was never that happy with it, and really thought that when we got ANH it would be kick ass. However, as with the Bespin figure, I'm just not "feeling it". I'm hoping it has a lot to do with the paint and the horrible lighting that SS always uses. The picture on the right shows that there is definate potential there. SS needs to have a word with their painters and hand out a few pink slips!!

I'd be intertested to see a stretched version of this repaint... you listening HigHurtenflurst?? :D

I think I'll skip the PPO and pick one up cheaper down the road so that I can get someone to do a nice repaint for me. No Star Wars collection is complete without ANH Han!!!!

Euro Hasbro 12" Han. Maybe i will repaint this head and use it for the Sideshow ANH.

This will be my only post on the subject because there are just too many posts of one sentence replies. (the solution would be to allow more posts per page).

I think it's too early to "pass" but this sculpt really is disappointing. When I pictured the expression of a ANH Han, it definitely would be less "huh." than it is now.

So no, I'm not gonna complain about the paint or the sculpt (even though they are pretty bad even for Sideshow but it's only a prototype). I'm more disappointed in the expression they chose.

I can see that. I would have preferred a smirk. But Bespin kinda has that gig going anyway.. I dunno. I am pretty darn satisfied with it actually.

definitely. come on Trev, why didn't you go with this expression?

Becuase when I think of ANH han, I think of him Charging down hallways screaming :LOL

Seriously though, I really, really Like this one. can't wait to see his gear.

You know, I think the smirk is most appropriate for the Bespin figure. He used it a lot flirting with Leia, he was at his cockiest at that point, it's more fitting on that one. He actually looks pretty pissy throughout ANH, like how'd I get stuck in all this ****. Ya he smiles once in a while, but I think ESB sealed the smirk as his trademark.

To be honest Yavin Luke is one of my faves (once it felt the touch of the Master). I really like this Han. I am getting prety excited to see some more pics.
Actualy, So do I. I just got mine yesterday, overall, I like him. he needs a repaint, but it's still good. I snagged an extra Bespin Luke saber (on and off versions) and I'm sculpting a hook to attach to the belt. all in all, good.

I think only the hair is like Harrisons.

FYI, the "real life" photo you've posted above is actually a mirror-image of Ford... You can tell because his nose curves to his left in the pic, when in reality it curves to his right.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

"Its bait and switch!! They have professional painters do the protos and then factory painters do production!!"
"The sculpts have so much potential, why don't they have better paint jobs on the protos?"

Good spot Andy, not to mention, you can't compare Ford's appearance from A New Hope to Empire entirely, ya the base features are the same, but the fullness and condition of his face was different, and the hair. It'd be like comparing A New Hope Hammil to Jedi.

I'd rather this scenario if it gives us another Bespin Luke and ANH Leia, both were painted kinda so-so on the protos and the production apps were much better. Ya the prototype is what we base our order off of, but the bottom line is that we get a good product in our hands.

I agree completely. If there's one thing I learned when sculpting Ford's likeness, it's that the man has a tendancy to look completely different depending on what reference you're looking at, especially during that early stage in his career. This is why I think direct photo comparisons like the one above are often futile, and is also one reason Ford has been so hard for sculptors to nail 100%. That said, I've SEEN Trevor nail Ford 100%... Hell, I've seen Ford sculpts by Trevor that look more like Ford than FORD does. All in due time...

Trev, you're a *****in' genius!
