So kara is old guard

Nice way of saying old fart. :lol

Well, we have to be respectful towards our elders, now don't we... :monkey3

For me, Claremont's X-Men in in the great category, for sure, but there are some runs I'd place higher, truth be told.

Not all Claremont X-Men comics/runs are created equal. . .

Yeah, you're right, his Excalibur is better than his X-Men... :monkey3

Is Warren Ellis considered a relic nowadays? Damn, that would make me old.

Nah, Ellis is still king. His reinventios of Moon Knight and now Karnak were/are gold. His NEXTWAVE is a legend, and his Authority is THE modernization of super-hero teams. He's doing rather good, I'd say...

At that point in his career? I wouldn't argue that point. I'll take early Excalibur over the X-Men reboot from the early '90s any day of the week.

If we're talking about X-TREME X-Men, then yeah, anything and everything is better than that. His 90s Uncanny run I haven't really read TBH.

I'm talking the Jim Lee brand split thing.

Ah, nope, not read that. Not really fan of 90s X-Men, to be honest. The best X stuff are the spin-offs, IMO. X-Factor, Uncanny X-Force, New X-Men, X-Men Legacy, all that. The main title took a dip in quality in the 90s AFAIC. Currently, the X line is whack, but Bunn's Uncanny is great IMO.

The long-awaited (by me) Outlaw Vern review is up. He says that this is the movie he was expecting when the first one was released in 2000--essentially Mortal Kombat.

Instead of impressing everyone now, as it has done? Agreed.

Young untrained mutants infiltrated Stryker's secret base, freed Weapon X, stole some kind of prototype military aircraft, rescued Xavier from two Horsemen yet couldn't defeat Apocalypse with the help of all powerful Magneto and Storm 'till the out-of-nowhere Phoenix... Sorry but this is WAAAY TOO MUCH for a team origin, not to mention 100% redundant after "First Class".

This movie sucks big time.
