I think we have about a three to four month window of time for them make a couple more figures from DOFP. After that we'll be getting into the AOU figure hype and this whole conversation will be mute and void. I could be wrong and I hope that's the case but this license doesn't seem to be a high priority for them and even if it is it seems pretty difficult to accomplish. What bothers me the most is that there is absolutely nothing at all on the market for these characters in terms of high end figures or collectibles. If I could find someone who could do a really good custom statue or 1/6 figure of Magneto I would be all over it.

I really hope that Xavier, Fassneto and others get made, for the sake of all the fans here. But it's a matter of will and want-to, as much as it is economics. It doesn't seem like HT has either when it comes to this license. As Invictus and others have said, there are far easier ways for HT to make bank.

Wow, you guys are really deluded. You have no data at all to support your certainty that these figures would sell. I wonder how many years this has to continue before some of you accept the truth and move on.

this is a little harsh man. First off youre right, we dont have the data because NO ONE is doing X men figures from the recent movies... there is nothing to say they "Don't" or "won't" sell because there ha been no product made to sell in the first place...

Technically we are more right to say they WOULD sell because we are the starved market they need... There is huge demand for anything Xmen related. Hasbro for example did a non movie based Xmen line that sold out from the two companies that took it on, and they sold through really well. thats pretty much all the x men merch weve had in 3-4 years...

I doubt seriously that Diamond would share sales data with Hot Toys, and if they did, it would be no more or less relevant than Hasbro sales, or NECA, or any other "low end" toy company. But my point is that product from this film (and First Class) have been produced. Other companies (like Hasbro) could have no doubt done the same if they thought it was worth the investment.

Agreed.

Someone should just end this debate and throw a poll up: Would you buy XMen DOFP Magneto or not? :lol

Yeah I know, so how would Hot toys think they "Dont sell"?

and Hasbro (and Hot toys) are in bed with Marvel and Disney (MCU/Legends/Starwars) thats why their x men were comic based. Marvel/Disney simply dont want this stuff to be made because they make no money off it, Fox does

these would sell, thats just a fact, it just gets tied down at the licensing level

As Invictus pointed out earlier, no one knows if they would sell or not. That's the point that's being made. For a business, the likeness rights etc. mean there is greater cost. The lack of data means it is a risky move, though existing data suggests Wolverine figures don't fly off the shelves. Selling more Iron Men is not risky. Thus, they sell more Iron Men, and non-Wolvie X-Men don't get produced.

Well being that HT's is A) producing from the license and B) have done up protos of other characters... then its more reasonable to assume they are making an attempt at it and its getting dragged down in the approval process then they simply "wont sell" and they arent doing them...

Select even got rejected by J law for their figure, so it is most likely an approval thing

HT has had other licenses they didn't do anything with, and licenses where prototypes were produced and nothing came from them. This is another instance where we have no idea how much of a role actual approval of likenesses plays. But of course it could be that. Fassbender has allowed his likeness to be used with Prometheus figures however.

Id say it plays this much of a role :lol

Mystique has been canceled. Unfortunately, Jennifer Lawrence declined to participate.

I know, im just trying to reinforce that companies are trying to put out merchandise and its dieing at the licensing stage, not that they arent doing it simply because they wouldnt sell

Knockoffs might end up being the only chance of seeing some of these characters. Verycool is doing a Viper. Although that's not a character that springs top to mind and the HS is kind of meh. But you never know some enterprising companies might follow suit and put out some H+C knockoffs.

This :lecture

Again, why would HT continue working on acquiring this “costly, tedious” license if they felt it would be too risky to produce figures for?

Howard could have easily just said in the OSR interview that acquiring the license is too difficult and they have decided not to pursue the X-Men line.

I think Hot Toys in fact does see the potential in the FoX-Men franchise which is why they’ve been continuously trying to acquire all of the actor’s likeness, otherwise whats the point?

And to make it clear, I’m not saying every character from this line will sell well, I just think HT should produce a Professor X and Magneto to test the waters, if they sell well, then go after Nicholas Hoult, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen etc…

Kyle Reese wouldn't sell, and I'm one of the biggest T1 fans on the forum! And supposedly they wanted to do Nurse Joker but couldn't obtain the rights.

I dunno how I missed this...

Are you saying A kyle reese with his future and past/present clothes woulnt sell well?

Skipped some good few pages with the Great Wall of Texts.
Made the promo pics as my wallpaper for a while now. It just seems too much like Wolverine for me to pass up.

I just might preorder this guy. Expensive or not.
