The irony here is that

...those voting against an INDY section seem to be doing so because they're just not interested in the property when they could just ignore that section instead of watching it take over General Discussion or something else.

Speak for yourself Bro...

There are quite a few HUGE Indy Freaks who voted No. I can't speak for them but I can safely say you're not even close to being in the vicinity of speaking for me. :lol :D

Dogmatic people among us: (Look it up). :D

In the end an Indy section can't be any less frequented than the Buffy or Military section. :lol

Speak for yourself Bro...

I am. Who else am I going to speak for? :lol

Seriously, though, that is one of the more annoying internet straw men, imho. "Hey, that's your opinion." Uh... duh.

There's nothing "dogmatic" about it. I have my own opinions and beliefs and I share them. Nothing more, nothing less. If you think I'm attempting to speak for YOU you are incorrect.

That said, please explain to me what would be so wrong about having an INDY section here were we can not only discuss specific collectibles but all the facets of the movies themselves. I can think of several different threads I would start and/or participate in the moment an INDY section was opened.

Saying " ...those voting against an INDY section seem to be doing so because they're just not interested in the property..."

is a totally dogmatic statement Bro. And it's untrue. If you read some of our posts in this thread you wouldn't have made such a statement. Many of us who voted no are big Indy fans, we were just addressing general issues regarding traffic and the practicality of an Indy Section.

And we did so without prejudice.

Having said that I have no problem with an Indy Section, whatever Dave wants to do is cool with me. I just think it would be better served if Indy and Action Heroes remained in the Gen thread and Dave changed Marvel to include Super Heroes. :D

Without naming names, I was referring to the latest flurry of "No" posts from folks who obviously just don't care for INDY, some of whom stated as such.

Again, that's cool and you're entitled to that take. But I assume you're one of the people who wouldn't have a problem with INDY threads dominating the General Discussion forum before long. Many others would, which is yet another reason why it makes sense to create an INDY specific section on here. Plus, as Josh and others have mentioned, there is no way an Indiana Jones section would ever be as dead and the Military or Whedon sections are on here. There is a solid core of posters here (you and me being just two) who would take part in consistent Indiana Jones discussion, and not just because of the new movie or new collectibles (which indeed helps).

Oh yeah! I know I would be in there discussing things as much as I am in the LOTR or SW sections. Plus it clears up space for more discussion on the General section for all those other lines that don't generate enough interest for their own section.

Let's try and keep this thread on topic. It seems that there's quite a few people on both sides of the fence. If those that voted and HAVEN'T been heard would care to speak up I'm interested in hearing the reason.

In retrospect it would have been interesting to have a choice of "I'm not interested in the property and I don't care" and a "I'm a fan but don't think it needs it's own section".

I voted no. The Indy craze will ramp up with the new film and then die down. Indy has never been "huge" in the collecting world and I don't think that will change. I love the films and the character, but it's not going to be the next Star Wars or Marvel in the collecting world.

Have there ever been that many Indy products? I mean since the internet became a bigger deal. Now, that there will be and all of us that enjoyed it growing up are adults I can see it being talked about and collected a lot more. Also why does it have to be the next Star Wars or Marvel to have its own section? Again we have the Buffy section and Military that aren't exactly knocking down the doors with great new product and people get to talk about those in its own section. LOTR (which I love more than any line we talk about here) has its own section and things have been slow.

Also the Indy lines will last for quite some time. SS license covers all 4 movies and isn't just gonna go away after May 22. The same goes with GG and Hasbro with the products that are coming out. Then you toss in some of the books that will be coming like the new Making Indy book, and there's all the more reason to have a section to Indy.

I think we should eliminate the Buffy and Military sections.:lol

100% exactly right.

I don't think we have enough Indiana Jones threads...I want to see a whole pageful of that spam! :chew
