And you completely missed my point. Of course there are two sides of the coin. What we're talking about here, though, is ONE side of that coin, namely the fact that figures that take a long time to sell out almost always drop in value on eBay later, making some collectors wonder why people order direct rather than waiting a bit and saving some cash.

you missed my point...the limited exclusive that can't be purchased from retailers and can only be found at sideshow or maybe with an inflated pricetag on ebay. most collectors of the line that prefer the exclusive will not take the chance.

if you're just buying the regular version, you can steal them later most anywhere.

I used some points for my Han anyway. He is a tad high now...my points worked him back to reasonable levels again. Got about $25 off or such.
He is a tad high....

Anyway, hope he sells well for other figure's sake.

OK, let me say it ONE MORE TIME. I'm NOT talking about regular editions. I am talking about the EXCLUSIVE. Do a search on eBay. An EXCLUSIVE Bespin Han recently sold for LESS than $40. Another sold (just yesterday) for $45. That's $10 BELOW the retail price.

Just because something can only be purchased from Sideshow doesn't mean it will hold its value later. People do sell things on eBay for a loss.

So you're saying that you can only get the regular for less on eBay, but the exclusives always sell for more?!?

:D

I think Sideshow is probably just finding the right price for their figure and editions sizes. 1977 is a lot lower than the exclusive for Bespin Han, and not surprisingly he also costs a bit more.

The ES of the Bespin Han Exclusive was 2000. The ES of this Exclusive is 1977. That's a difference of 23. That's a lot lower?

I think it obvious that a lot of people have dropped this line, or parts of it. Especially knowing you can grab them for less on ebay. The sell-out time takes longer. There's been more complaining lately about quality for the price. And more and more people have jumped from the got-to-have the exclusive bandwagon as they realize most of the exclusive items don't come into the figure's pose and end up sitting in a box.

But in time things might come back around. Once Vader and Stormtroopers and droids start appearing, I'm sure there will be a resurgence in these figures.

if you take the time to read my reply, I AGREE that some exclusives lose their value. the ADDITIONAL point i'm making is some don't or increase. as a collector of just the exclusive version, i would want to be sure i was able to get one without resorting to ebay and the possibility of an inflated pricetag. MOST exclusives at least hold their value at retail, if you can find one down the road.

Sorry, I just noticed that. I thought Han had an exclusive of 3000... (bib and boushh were 2500) but maybe I just made that up than any were that high. Although the regulars have been lower Bespin Han (8,000) Vs ANH Leia (5,000).

Thats exactly how I feel. This extra balster was of no interest to me (since up until 3 days ago I didn't even know Han had 2 blasters) and I see a lot of my early exclusives getting no out of box time. I think from now on I am only getting the WOW exclusives direct and I will get any other figs from someplace else.

Could be. But if the price for those figures ends up as high as some people have speculated, then I'm not so sure the resurgence will happen. At least not to the same interest level that the line has seen in the past.

I admit that I am surprised that Smuggler Han hasn't sold out. This was (I thought) one of the most anticipated figures in quite a while.

Rebelscum is reporting that the exclusive is sold out... yet it still appears to be up. WTF?

Anyone else think that the paint apps on the SW line are hurting sales along with the price?

As for the price of exclusives, I'll stick with buying direct from SS. I like the point reward system. I buy alot of Sideshow's figures and have taken advantage of my points so far.

Fair enough. But it does (or should) make one have second thoughts when a much-anticipated piece takes a long time to sell out. Something is keeping people from pulling the trigger. Either the price, the lack of a more substantial exclusive, the disputed likeness (I think it looks good, but others are complaining about it), or some other factor we haven't even touched on. And whatever that thing is that is holding people back will likely translate later to discount prices on eBay for the exclusive.
