Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

Something that I'm noticing with a lot of the positive reviews (ie those that are flagged as "fresh" as opposed to "rotten") posted on rottentomatoes is that they aren't, well, that positive. Case in point:

Yeah, if it was great, we'd all know it. No one keeps a good movie of this size a secret.

Alright, so more hope is poured onto TDKR. But my gut is we've already seen the best movie of the summer and the one this summer will be primarily remembered for: Avengers.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

As I said earlier this is a good movie but not great. It's a good place to start and start watching this version of spidey grow. Is it better than the avengers? No. Will it be better than tdkr? No, probably not but I never expected it to. I am glad I saw it in the theater and will buy it on blu.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

Going tonight to watch in glorious 2D. If anything it should be a nice stopgap between avengers and TDKR. Once they get the origin BS out of the way, the sequel could be great...

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

Bout equal I'd say, but the way Spidey moves around in fights is far more impressive than the Raimi films....though 75% of it is maskless :(

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

i loved it its a good start to a new franchise very good cast .

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

Just got back from seeing it... A nice new take on Spidy notice i diidnt say good or great ether... Fights with Lizard where well done but Ialmost laughed when Lizard spoke the first time... Did Spidy need to lose the mask so much???

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

Well at least it wasn't as bad as tobey. Tobey would have fought lizard without the suit at least this spiderman took the time to suit up.

With the exception of the Goblin II's interference after the proposal dinner which actually made sense, what other fights did Tobey fight his villains sans costume?

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

Just watched it on 3D IMAX. I'd give it a 7/10.

My wife prefers watching this one than the tobey spidey. But to quote her, "this ain't no avengers" :lol

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

One reviewer said that the first hour is almost a scene for scene redo of Raimi's first movie. Does Garfield do the whole wrestling match thing in this too?

If that's the case, how is the the untold origin we've never seen before? :dunno :lol

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

That's the thing. The reviewer was all "don't fall for the marketing, the whole movie is pretty much one giant deja vu until he fights the Lizard at the end."

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

There was no untold story. This was a remake through in through . Don't know why they went with the untold story angle like it was a sequel . Should of went with with "the better version or we are going to try again"

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

There's no stupid wrestling angle like in Raimi's movie, but he does fall through a roof onto a wrestling ring and gets his costume idea from a luchador poster

Don't think I didn't notice you blatantly ignoring the challenge post. :nono :lol

That reviewer must have been on crack...yes same basic origin story but completely different.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

I saw it last night, and quite enjoyed it. There're enough differences between this and the Raimi films to warrant a watch. I must say, though, that if there's one thing that I loved about the film, it was the casting. Martin Sheen as Uncle Ben? Brilliant. Dennis Leary as George Stacy? Double whammy. I genuinely liked the film. Solid 7-8/10.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

Seeing this sometime next week. Hoping I enjoy it cause I've always like Spidey. Not expecting to like it more than Spidey 1 or 2, but I certainly hope I like it more than Spidey 3.
