Robert Rodriguez's PREDATORS Movie Thread - SPOILERS

What I don't get in Predator 2, is why on earth did it set of it's self destruct bomb when it was not really in any great peril, as it managed to break it's fall ok.
It just felt like an excuse to emulate the first movie.

In defence of Predator 2, it does have one of the coolest scenes in the whole series, with the multiple Targets on Glover, and then all the Predators appearing at the end. When I first saw that I was like WTF this is awesome.
Even the makers of Predators seem to think so, why else did they pull that trailer stunt with Royce.

I for one was gutted we didnt see that in the film, i expected the same as P2, a shed load of cool looking Preds

He was told earlier in the film though that this was the only way Preds cant detect them, so i guess whata ya do?

Nothing wrong with a bit of homage to a true classic imo

They paid enough homage throughout the entire film to Predator. Especially with the score which I did not like the use of. PREDATORS should have used a more subtle approach as Predator 2 was able to successfully execute. Predator gave us something we'd never seen before and had excellent flow to it. Which is partly why it is now considered a classic film. PREDATORS spent too much time trying to be a good sequel and not enough time being it's own original film. It failed to deliver a suprise element. The film was too predictable. I felt embarrassed at times not just for me but for audiences to watch it. It felt like a complete knockoff to Predator rather than a sequel.

I still liked it. But for those reasons I think they could have taken it in a different direction to make it a good film.

well in a nutshell i think predators succeeded since this time round.

I mean for us to complain that it could be better rather than how lame it was is an accomplishment in itself.

^that's such an awesome piece, but the only thing that's stopped me from getting one is that you can't display him with his mask on. A majority of the people here love displaying the Pred's face, but not me

defin need the option for both.

had the mask on for one year and just switched it out for the open mouthed look now.

oh yeah, the P1 EX Maquette is my only grail right now. It does suck that the CM, being as pricey as it is/was, doesn't have such a simple option.

Was wondering about the "original Predator" in this movie. Did he have a twin brother???? I was led to beleive (before the movie came out) that it was the Predator from the original & would somehow tie into the original movie.
That is kinda lame if every Predator from his tribe would look & dress exactly alike. (aside from his dreads being a tad bit longer) It must be hard for the chick preds to tell them apart at home... at least it would be easy to cheat on them without getting into trouble

It might be his brother, maybe the runt of the litter, seeing as he is 9" shorter than the P1

I like that the second Predator got taken out by sword... A lot cooler then having a log dropped on head like P1 or killed with its own weapons P2... The fact that they both die form the blade makes that scene so much cooler in my book...

The first one getting blown up now that was just a little lame... But I expected it none the less after the guy grabbed the grenade off the table... You know someone was going to blow up at that point...
