Well the movie bombed so I fully expect a real 4K release with proper Imax ratios, 3D, extended cut in a cool steelbook with lenticular inserts and mini art book....with a Godzilla figurine.....and KG battle diorama....snow globe.

:lol :lol

And it'll probably be re-released in theaters every 10 years so that future generations can always enjoy it on the big screen, lol.

What I picked up the 2nd time
1. I pretty much like everyone on the Monarch team. Sure there is not much too them but all are likable enough.
2. The mom is just a bit too evil to deserve any kind of redemption arc. People kept dying and I kept thinking its her fault. I really hated her and her logic the 2nd time through.
.

I almost wish the movie just focused on team Monarch and left out the family completely. Maybe keep the mom and just make her a rogue scientist. Make it so she lost her entire family in San Fran or something. I dunno. I just want to stay with Monarch.

And at least we’ll get it in three months or so. So end of August or early September.

This movie is said to be scheduled for 9/24 release, I think for Blu Ray which would be about 2-4 weeks prior on digital.

As for bombing, not that either of these should necessarily fair well, but it might cast a better light on Godzilla for the studio.

****ing Endgame!

I’m glad it’s not gonna beat Avatar! :lol

So I went to see it for a second viewing.

My views that have not changed since my first viewing.

1. Trailers showed way too much
2. Final fight needed to be more focused on the monsters. Especially when you spoil so much of it in the advertising
3. Godzilla is indeed the King of the monsters. He is done pretty much perfectly
4. The sub scene is the worst part of the film. Takes forever to get to what they need to do. Seems to take forever anyways. Its probably the longest the movie goes without any monster action and you can tell.
5. First Godzilla vs Ghidorah fight is the best part of the movie IMO and reminded me the most of classic Toho monster fights.
6. Monster roars are so loud I cant hardly hear the music and thus really have to strain to hear the iconic themes.
7. Its a fast 2 hours.

So again I really enjoyed it but it left me just a bit disappointed in the lack of a truly great monster battle at the end of the film. There needed to be a bit more Bang for your Buck. Give the final battle 5 extra min of just extra monster action and its a much much better Godzilla experience.

I agree 100% with this.

I blew off my 2nd viewing in frustration over it being pulled from Dolby screens. :monkey2

Either KOTM or DP will achieve cult status.

I believe August.

Monarch was cool in this.

Let them fight.

:lol :lol

As a single only release it already has. :nana:

I really doubt Endgame had anything to do with Godzilla or anything else flopping. A lot of people weren't hyped for this one after not liking the 2014 movie, unfortunately, while most of the other movies flopping very predictably are ones that aren't getting good reviews.

He's not wrong though. EG will beat Avatar's initial run. And since Avatar's re-release was actually a different and longer version of the movie that extra $30 million worldwide shouldn't really count toward the original theatrical edition's gross anyway. ;)

If i’m not mistaken Cameron never even released the extended cut in 3D for home release only in 2D.

Weird right.

Do you guys know if those marvel movie marathon fan event thingies get factored into each movies grand total?

Looks like they don't. I went and caught Cap:TFA in 15/70 IMAX August or September 2017 but it looks like www.boxofficemojo.com only records its earnings up to November 10th, 2011.

https://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?page=daily&id=captainamerica.htm

Looks like they only count wide re-releases and not one or two day fan events here and there.

Hmm I feel like it should count. But whatever. I guess it wouldn’t affect it much anyway.

I was thinking the same thing but I don’t recall anymore either lol

Nor should you...good god that was more or less a decade ago :lol

Went and watched this tonight and actually enjoyed it. Way better then that last Godzilla movie

Totally agree. The family arc was clearly tacked on for Mille.....who needs to go away.......

I plan on editing this for more fun watching it....

Without the family arc, its would have been a much better film.

Sent from the inside of a giant slug in outer space.....

Incorrect without the family arc it would’ve just been a shorter movie not a better movie.

I agree remove the family arc but then you have to replace it with more destruction I don’t want a shorter movie I want a better movie.

Yeah, I don’t know about removing it completely without replacing it with something but it definitely needed some retooling. I just liked the world building that went on with every Monarch scene and obviously Serizawa was more of the heart of the film than the family. He was the Bryan Cranston of this film but at least he went out with purpose.

I don’t know how to fix it I just feel it needs a little something.

I think the pace of this movie may be the real issue. Where 2014 was a slow build up, this movie dove straight into the deep end and didn't slow down at all. We open with an action sequence with Mothra, fairly quickly move to Antartica, jump over to Mexico, from there it's a mix of Godzilla's ancient temple, DC and Boston and then straight to the Boston finale.

The oxygen destroyer makes an appearance but could have been a point for some solid drama and slown the film down a bit without getting boring. This could have also been woven into elaborated drama between Monarch and the government.

Build upon those and add more to the story with the eco terrorists and particularly Charles Dance and you'd have more meat in the movie which as is feels more like a 100mph roller coaster that never lets up. It's like 2 extremes, 2014 was criticized for a number of things, this movie goes 180 on most of those but even that's not the best case scenario, the best falls somewhere between the two.
