Freakzoid
ender's game: 20th anniversary edition is an absolutely amazing audiobook.
Finished Darth Plagueis. Much of the plot is about politics which made it a bit dry for me. Also, I'm not very familiar with the expanded universe or the fine details of the movies, so when names of different species are being rattled off, I couldn't picture half of them. But it was very interesting to see the origin of Palpatine (and Maul), which I didn't realize would be included in this book. It was fairly thorough, so I would have thought some other book would have already told this tale. For me, the book didn't really grab me till towards the end when they were existing at the same time period as Episode 1 and you got to see what was going on from a whole different perspective. Of course there were also some other major events throughout, but the in-between stuff was a little dull.
And one thing that I was a little disappointed in:
Spoiler:I always thought Palpatine was responsible for Anakin's birth, but no. And in the beginning of the book, when they're describing Plagueis's experiments with midichlorians, I thought maybe HE was responsible for Anakin, but he wasn't. It was just a "miracle" birth like it was always said. Actually, let me amend that. They just kind of imply that the experiments Plagueis was doing are indirectly responsible, but Plagueis and Palpatine weren't even aware of Anakin's existence til he shows up with Qui Gon and Obi on Naboo.
But all in all it was an interesting book. It's not just about Palpatine's master, Plagueis, but about Palpatine's origin and rise to power as well. There's also a bit of Maul's origin in there too.
