I don't get why sony would just sell spiderman but keep his rogues cause they cant do much with that. Why would Sony want to keep the Sinister six rights if they cannot use spiderman in those movies without Disney approval. Seems like a wasted opportunity to get more money from the Mouse, if they were smart they should have made Disney buy all of them in a package deal, they had the leverage- ****ing dumb executives. Venon sells by himself but he would also sell much better if he was in the same world as spiderman. They could have forced Disney into paying bank for all of them just to get spiderman back. I read that Sony can borrow him in their movies with Disney approval but I just don't see how that will work with marvel continuity- it will never happen cause Disney doesn't want them to **** up the character and then have to clean up the mess with stupid illogical explanations

I think the 1 Spider-Man film and 1 MCU film deal is pretty obviously just to get us thru the Sony buyout. By the time both those films come out, Sony will be owned by Apple or Amazon and Disney will have the full rights back anyway. The fact this deal came out of nowhere after all the “door is closed” talk is very telling Sony knows their time is limited and might as well make another $Billion off the franchise before they lose the rights entirely. Their spiderverse is dead before it even began :lol

Um, they didn't. They made a deal to have Marvel/Feige produce one more Spidey film plus allow him to appear in another TBD MCU flick down the road. He's still Sony's film property....for now.

Thank you that article is way more informative then the one I read but i still dont really undertand the point of this. So marvel gets him for one more film and then it reverts back wtf, it will revert back to the same issues after next movie. Something fishy in Denmark, they have to have future plans to get the rights in perpetuity otherwise they will constantly be dealing with the same ****, esp if marvel has long term plans for the character. There must be something bigger in the works but they couldnt come to an agreement now so they settled on another bandaid contract

Like I said, this is probably just to get them thru a Sony buyout. Once Sony is purchased by someone, the full rights revert back to Marvel. That would be a several year ordeal like the Fox deal was, but we should probably start hearing something about it in the next few months.

Yea Sony knows it?s dead. Lol they knew no one would want a Sony produced movie and they are the only idiots with characters outside the mcu so it?ll be them vs marvel.

What do people rather want? Spider-Man crossing over with ****ing madam Webb or wolverine? Why they believe dumb **** like rogue gallery movies without Spider-Man will sell is beyond me

:lol :lol :lol

Awesome reference by Tom, assuming it is him.

Fantastic news. And by the sounds of it he can still appear in Sony's own projects, Venom presumably. I wonder will that, kinda make them canon with the MCU...

Honestly the venom verse can be standalone and street level while marvel handles the world threatening events.

Glad things are back to normal cause the mcu looked dead with no Spider-Man. Could care les about eternals or Thor: love and strapons.

That?s be so beautiful. Sony finally gets bought and no more idiots pitching stupid ideas like the aunt may movie

Bezos FTW.

Seriously! I?ll happily buy the Samuel L Jackson Alexa voice as a small thank you if it keeps Spider-Man with Marvel:lol

It honestly doesn?t matter to me if Apple or Amazon buys Sony. The PSiphone or PSPrime would eventually make it to my house. I?ll probably benefit something from either merger but the Spider-Man rights are my primary interest of a buyout. I?ve been reading lots of articles lately because of this rights fiasco and all experts thought it was only a matter of when, not if, Sony gets bought. And that was before the reports of Amazon and Apple being interested. I really do think this latest deal will see us through until the rights revert back to Marvel and Spider-Man stays for good.

Or I could be completely wrong and this is the road to closure:dunno

Apple and Amazon are probably praying that the next James Bond movie bombs at the box office it will make Sony Studios that much cheaper to buy.

Hell Disney probably wants Bond to bomb as well lol

Oh it’s going to bomb. The whole female 007 thing they are trying to pull won’t go over well with the traditional Bond audiences. That’s just not what the character of 007 was designed to be. You can’t gender swap every character and have it work :lol

Well Bond is in the film, it'll be Daniel Craig's last one so I don't think it'll bomb.

But if their intention going forward is to shunt James Bond out of the franchise altogether in favour of anyone else as 007 then they're in for a rude awakening if they expect that to take off. James Bond is sorta the raison d'etre of the ermm, James Bond franchise. Box office may drop due to Bond fatigue but that doesn't mean you replace him in his own franchise. You simply give it a rest for a bit as they did between License To Kill and Goldeneye.

It's time for a new Bond anyways. Nolan wanted to make a Bond film, but they passed on his idea. It' was a complete reboot with no Daniel Craig. It's always exciting when they reboot Bond. I remember Goldeneye being a big deal in the 90's, both the film and the game. It's one of my favorite Bond films, but unfortunately the sequels were terrible.

Casino Royale and Skyfall are two of my all time favorite Bond films, and Quantum of Solace and Specter, while not great, they have hot Bond girls, great visuals, and good action.

I want Henry Cavill as the next Bond.

I think Cavill could pull off Bond very well. I liked him in Man From Uncle and Mission Impossible. I like most of the Bond film's but there are a few duds for sure. I know Craig is tired of the role but I like him as Bond. To me he and Dalton are more like the Book version with Connery making the role all his own as the original in the movies. Brosnan was a perfect choice with Goldeneye being a fantastic intro and then his movies became trash through no fault of his own. Bad stories and low production values and bad cgi really hurt his movies. I am curious to see what they will come up with but it may be the end for us old timer fans of the series like Wor-Gar and myself.
