I don't have any pics handy at the moment, so here are some stock pics of my vehicles.

the snow covered 2001 Silverado. 108k miles on it and it's never been in the shop. Knock on wood. Been paid for since 06. I want a Tahoe next.

It's damn far from being a sexy or cool ride but I have a Honda Element. I was looking for something that would give me good gas mileage, since I commute pretty far on a daily basis, along with the room to easily get my son in and out of his car seat. I also wanted plenty of room and 4 wheel drive for hitting the sierras during camping trips, which is by far my favorite thing to do in the summer.

Anyway, the Element gives me all of those things.

2007 Toyota Camry (V6 baby!)
2010 Nissan Altima

At one point I had a 2004 Acura RSX, but I traded it in once my daughter was born.

I kinda like not having a fancy car, because I can drive anywhere and not worry about where I park.

What mileage are you getting on highway?? I'm going shopping for a Golf TDI this weekend and will more than likely get one in a month or two, but it wouldn't hurt to see what other options I might have.

I know you asked about the Element, but I wanted to mention that at times I'm getting just shy of 60 mpg on the highway, but when you average it out with all my surface street driving, it drops sharply to the 39 mpg figure I gave earlier. The onboard computer just blows my mind when I see those huge figures.

In fact, thinking about it has made me want to take her down to SDCC this year. Coasting all the way, I'll probably be able to get there in 3/4 of a tank from Vegas to the convention center. And she's only got a 10.6 gallon tank!

Sorry, I love her. Back to your regular program...

My old car, which I loved. 2004 Mazda 6S V6, fully loaded. Sold it in 2006 after my first daughter was born and I was expecting my second daughter.

And yes, these are the same pics I used to sell the car in 2006. I need to let go and delete them.

My replacement car is a 2005 Nissan Pathfinder LE, but I don't get to drive it, since it's the kid hauler. Instead, I drive a base model 2001 Honda Civic to and from work. At least it saves me gas n-money.

The Pathfinder is almost paid off (less than a year) and I REALLY want to buy a new car for myself...but with two kids, it'll be nice not having a car note every month any more.

Have you calculated the MPG on your own, or just going off of the computer? Those aren't 100% accurate. I might be getting a 2002 Golf TDI from a friend on the weekend of the 25th. He regularly gets 60mpg out of it, and I know for a fact that he doesn't abuse the car (I don't trust most people when I'm shopping for a used car).
