QMx: 1/6 Firefly - Captain Malcolm Reynolds

I e-mailed QMx and also asked them on facebook several times if they could upload hi-res photos of Mal. Looks like they listened:

The sculpt looks spot on to me. With a custom paintjob that could look much better than the promo shots.

Love this new face sculpt better than his previous one. Much more like the Firefly Mal.

Everything looks great, except the jacket. The material is way too thick and the sleeves way too wide to look properly scaled down from the real thing. Wish they'd fix that.

I saw this over the weekend in Dallas and I'm pleased to say it looked really great in person, everything looked well scaled (even the jacket) and the paint work on the head was quite good. I don't know if it was a prototype or production sample, but at least for now this looks like a home run.

It hasn't been mentioned, but a couple of the guys from Sideshow now work at QMx, so there's little worry that this won't be a quality 1/6 figure.

This looks great and I'm looking forward to what the line brings. That said, I just can't make myself bite on this one since I already made the custom for about half the price. I'll hold out for a Serenity version, although I might upgrade a few parts if he gets parted out a reasonable price (jacket for sure, maybe gun, boots, pants).

Very happy for Trev that he is part of this!

Half the price?? I spent easily twice what QMx is asking for thier Mal in building my own Mal. Well over $100.00 for the sculpt and paint job alone.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing... maybe if you did your own painting (which I didn't at the time) maybe you'd come it around this price, but half ($87.50) I think not

I never bought Trevor's boots, but weren't those casts $40 as well, so for just a blank head and boots you're already at the 1/2 way mark... and I don't remember exactly what I spent, but it was easily another $100 or so for the jacket, pants, shirt and holster.

At $175 for a complete and well made figure (as long as the final figure delivers) we're getting a solid deal. I can't say I'll be in for the entire crew, but at least Mal and Jayne.

As a side note, I'm so glad to see Trevor's sculpts showing up in so many different venues for folks to have access to--Iminime, this, smaller projects like the True Detective stuff, the Catwoman statue, and the larger SSC statue work he's presumably still working on.

I got my order in also. Never ordered from BBTS , glad to just have it done and out of the way.
