I need to contact them again about my replacement hand... I just left a phone message, but that was like 2 weeks ago.

Wow! I got a replacement head for Vader (a serious scratch on the right side of his dome), and the head looks like it was dropped and kicked across the floor. The "nose" is scuffed up and not only is the dome detached, but it has a chip and scratches. I felt like I was being nit-picky before, but this is kinda ridiculous.

Sorry to hear about that. What are you going to do?

I'm still waiting for SS to replace my Vader, to send me an email with tracking number or something. It is already 18 days and no sign. Maybe I should drop them an email...

it probably wouldn't hurt to contact them, although I imagine a lot of returns/exchanges are held up right now so close to SDCC.

Yeah, that's why I didn't contact them earlier. I may wait a few more days.

BTW when a replacement is sent do you receive email from SS announcing the package has left and tracking number etc. like you do when regular orders are shipped?

Yes, its as if you are having an order filled.

As for what I am going to do...I am not sure. I'll probably explain the situation to them and ask to return the "replacement" head. It is far worse than my original one.

Thanks. Hopefully they will wake up and send me a Vader finally.

A replacement head would be better than to send back the whole figure. I also asked for them just to send a new codpiece with belt and chestbox with straps to replace mine but they insisted I have to destroy the figure... and till now I only have Vader parts at my house... I could make a nice soup of them.:banghead

Damn guys your having a right nightmare with these figs :monkey2

Well, yeah, it sucks, but let me personally state that I love this figure and think it is the best 1/6th Vader available on the market, and it will be tough to beat.

The scratch across the side of his helmet on mine is not horrible, but is noticeable on the clean shiny surface of his dome. It is the only real flaw and I assume it was caused during shipment in the packaging. I am now considering having the helmet fixed and painted by a pro. I will NOT give him back!

Have to agree with you on it being the best 1/6 (mass produced) Vader out there. I never bothered with the Hasbro ones, but have owned both Medicom versions. And while the Medicom Vaders are great figures... this is just a more impressive overall package.

Amongst all the work I am doing, I am gonna post a part 2 video of my SS Vader (Pt 1 was just opening the box...) and a Part 3, since I have been thinking of making mine into an Empire Vader. We'll see.

Sorry to hear of woes regarding the figure though. Mine, thanks again to Maulfan for being able to even have one, almost has to be an Empire one, since I am pretty happy with my custom New Hope guy. And the SS helm is more of an Empire shape to it.

I think, just removed and repositioned helm is enough. All this heating up and widening may damage the coating. Anyone know what SS uses to coat the plastic parts with? It is not an acrylic I don't think. It is nice stuff, hard, brittle when it dries, hence the cracks. Acrylic won't usually crack like that. Probably a plastic based high gloss paint. Be careful with the helms and shin guards too.

as good this figure is, it seems SS made a mess in mass production and are not at the same level as Hot Toys.

Look at all those call backs and flaws here. Even on mine there is a (very tiny though) paint error on the dome

Hot Toys did release early messed up paint apps of the new John Connor fig... but they recalled all of them and gave out replacements. Happens to every company i reckon. Just gotta roll with the punches.

I'd say the issues here are pretty minor and not the norm considering all the parts involved... majority of the issues being scratches (which are hard to avoid on a glossy black surface) and the high points (the tusks) getting damaged in transit.

Thought I'd pop a few pics in to remind us how damn cool this baby is...

While I've got the camera out I thought I'd add a couple of funnies with my current second most favourite figure

And to prove that all cat's are at one with the Dark Side (and have zero respect for me and my toys... This is my wifes way of telling me it's time to pack up, she opens the door and let's the cats in - game over man!)
