Re: Alien remake/reboot is GO

Well, they're Predator fanboys. I'd never trust them with a Vs movie. All they want to see is the Predator being "badass". Thats all they care about.

They're morons.

Re: Alien remake/reboot is GO

All one can hope is that Scott has enough respect for his original 'monster' that he will only let someone he trusts do the business, well, I can dream.
But I have a feeling this one might, just might turn out OK... which is more than I can say for Predators, as appart from Sin City most of Rodriguez's movies are pretty messy in their narrative and 'over stylised' in their violence.

Here's some of Carl Rinsch's work. He's imaginative, that's for sure.

Re: Alien remake/reboot is GO

It seems like when a lot of these studios reach the so-called "end of the rope" with their franchises they go the REBOOT direction. In some instances it works true but in others it is completely unnecessary.

Both franchises could easily survive a sequel (not a AvP) on their own merit with great talent behind them. While I do have to state that there are a lot of kids out there nowadays who DO NOT EVEN KNOW what Alien and Predator is...they should be raised up on the classics and not some stupid remake.

Though the more I read about "PREDATORS" it seems to be a "reboot sequel" in terms of what all the movie sites are calling it.

Re: Alien remake/reboot is GO

my first reaction was it is going to suck.

I am hoping to be surprised. a good start for an origin story might be how the company found out about this creature that they sent Ash to bring back, with or without the crew.

Rodriguez can only be better than Paul WS anderson and the AVP:R guys. Thats the way I see it. I would hardly call him my favourite film maker but at least I've heard of him and hes made at least one pretty good film (Sin city - and I didn't even know that) and some other decent ones. I still fully expect Predators to be crap but only because I've come to expect nothing better from the new era of films from these once great franchises. I don't know that it will be possible to make any of them good again (IMO Terminator:The Sarah connor chronicles on TV was a rare exception and its a travesty it got cancelled). As for Alien - I think that neither a sequel nor a reboot can possibly be scary again. We're all too familiar with the creature and if they change it to be very different then why call it 'Alien'? Why identify it in any way with existing Alien franchise?

Re: Alien remake/reboot is GO

Seeing a remake of ALIEN would be about as much fun as dangling from a great height by only my balls.

Re: Alien remake/reboot is GO

When I read the title of the thread here, I felt like John Hurt in the chestburter scene.

Now imagine thats not John Hurt, its Brian Austin Green and Miley Cyrus is the new Ripley.

I know, lets just let Eli Roth dress up like an Alien, have Rodriguez dressed up like a Predator, and they battle to the death for real on the international space station. I'd pay $8 to watch that.

Re: Alien remake/reboot is GO

no matter what they do the original will still be the best.

Re: Alien remake/reboot is GO

Hm.... wonder how much they will pay me this time?

Re: Alien remake/reboot is GO
