It's an obvious ode to lovecraftian mythology mixed with a real life killer. Read Dagon and Shadow over Innsmouth. They might shed some light on the look and feel of this piece.

At SDCC they told me they have a backstory for their version of Jack, much like the Grim Reaper. So I'm willing to hear the story now at least, but I too was expecting something a little more realistic.

I've been doing some research and as far as I can tell Jack the Ripper did indeed use giant tongues and tentacles to murder his victims. This would explain why he was so difficult to keep up with.

I think this looks great, just wish there had been a slightly more normal looking head to go along with the exaggerated one. Oh well, this is gonna be a sweet version no doubt.

Yeah, I was imagining a somewhat normal Jack strolling down a dark cobblestone street looking into the eyes of each passer by. Then he singles one out, corners her and transforms. That was my vision.

The only problem with a 'normal' head is you'd need 'normal' hands as well and have those gut/crotch tentacles be removable as well to have a 'normal' Jack the Ripper. The production beek showed another head, so I'm guessing thats the EX

I wish I could get a better look at the front of him so I could see if the tentacles at his stomach look like they could be removable. I guess we will hopefully know in a few days either way. I'm more than happy to use the EX crazy head thing, but I'm just not a huge fan of the crotch tentacles. Either way this piece is a 10/10 really awesome.
