Dependz if there's a price difference, maybe, but same price, i'd say tie or edge to Dredd. I want Rocky but sadly it seems undermarketed, i'm delighted to see NECA tackling it. I do think a Rocky 1 would sell for the classic value like Reeves Supes but outside of that, not so sure.
Well the factors that would vary between them affecting sales as I see them would be: complexity of figure (Dredd wins), availability of existing collectibles (Dredd wins), and iconic nature of the character (Rocky wins in a landslide). I can envision Rocky pre-orders selling out while Dredd figures actually have to come in stock first before that happens, because I think the iconic nature of Rocky provides a much stronger incentive to buy than the fact that Judge Dredd looks cool. Dredd was a bad film, and is a fairly obscure comic character probably best known to folks in the UK or those who just happened to catch the movie on cable. Rocky is one of the true icons of film. And he's an action character, so I figure he'll be much more popular among action figure collectors than, say, Sweeney Todd.

But, there's only one way to be sure. Hot Toys--release the hounds! Or rather, er, figures.

Demilition man's one I'd consider, especially if it came with the black costume and beret, yeah it's basically Barney Ross but I like that look. If HT does a Stallone line like Depp, you'd get Spartan but no Phoenix.

Well I'd still take him as a standalone. Younger Stallone minus surgery and facial hair in a great sci-fi actioner of the early 90s.

I call BS!

Rocky just isn't that popular in Asian markets it seems.

Exactly.

And a Rocky DX would sell like Hotcakes!! (at least everywhere else)

I think you have great point with your Asian market opinion, they really don't know what their doing when it comes to Rocky.

Hot Toys makes five Rocky figs and doesn't make a single figure from the Oscar winning original, which amazes me to this day. Rocky II is just as iconic as the original doesn't have a single fig either:slap

If I was employed at Hot Toys I have at least 5 figs from the first two films that would sell out, Rocky 1 street, Rocky 1 training, Rocky 1 red robe with the meat packing advertisement on the back, with second battle damaged head. Rocky II Tiger jacket, Rocky II black and gold fight gear. They already made a great championship belt, so that Rocky II fight package would look great, just imagine displaying a Rocky II battle damaged face with the championship belt raised over his head, that would look awesome.

I'm happy with what Hot Toys made, but I just don't understand why they decided to do a second Clubber Lang street figure:slap They could have made the Rocky 1 street as the special edition.

One last thing, to those who keep bringing up the lack of accessories hurt Rocky figs, that's BS, you could add a speed bag, punching bag, grey training sweats, Rocky's dog, even Adrien or Paulie could be added as a two pack. Interior or exterior of Rocky's apartment or Mickey's gym, just like they did with the interior scene for Hot Toys Godfather fig.

I could see them doing a Spartan from the beginning when he jumps out of the chopper. But like someone mentioned it might be a little too similar to Barney Ross.

I'd be happy with a future version to with his SAPD uniform and the glow rod

If Rock 2 is ever done I'm glad it would be now with a body that could elevate its arms for the classic "I did it!"

I'm just siked they're going back to the Rocky/Rambo licenses. I'd love a Cobra figure too. I'm okay with the 90's stuff (Dredd, Demolition Man, Cliffhanger, Oscar).

You left out his most iconic role from the '90s.

Ill take whatever they make, but i strongly doubt they will bother in the near future with all the other Hot licenses they have right now.I can see the next Rocky/Rambo coming in 2 years or so.

I would love a Cobra too.

I think the only Stallone movie I haven't seen is the Specialist when he and Atonia Banderas chase after Sharon Stone with this disk, was it any good and should a figure be considered?

Watchable, but not something I would really classify as "good." Deserving of a figure? Hell no.

thanks karamazov80, I'll wait for it on NetFlix then. I thought copland was one of Stallone's better films but probably none of us would dream of having a fat version of him as a figure.

You're mixing 2 movies together.

The Specialist stars Stallone, Sharon Stone and James Woods and is about Stallone being a freelance bomb specialist hired by Stone.

Assassins stars Stallone, Banderas and Julianne Moore with Stallone and Banderas as competing hit men with Moore as a target.

Both good movies, Assassins figures might be tempting but really, neither have strong designs or accessories for figures.
