The only real issue I would watch out for is broken ankles. The upper ankle socket seems to have a tendancy to break, so you should make sure none of the feet are loose, don't hold a pose, or compress when you push them up. Mine had a broken ankle socket, and it was a real pain to remove the fabric and inner rubber boot, epoxy the joint, and re-fit everything.

Mine I believe has the broken right ankle socket however with enough futzing still can hold a standing pose without a stand which I'm happy about. I finally decided to put him at my desk with the dynamic stand and diorama base that came with it. Positioned right in between my 2 favorite issues. I think it turned out to be a pretty cool display. As much as I think the new ASM2 figure is this one will always be "my" version of Spider-Man, go Tobey!

Nice, Skull. I still have this one myself. I love the look of the ASM2 version but I don't think I can risk 2 red/blue Spidey's in the collection nor do I feel arsed selling this one. I think if I were to buy another Spiderman it'd have to be the Symbiote version. I've eyed that one up for years but other stuff has always taken priority.

Thanks, yeah for me Spidey is my number one superhero so I got all the hot toys versions but if I was only going to display one it would be the ASM2 figure as I think it represents the classic look best, however Tobey's Parker is still my favorite.

can you guys help me out?

I am considering making the mod Jedijim and others have been successful at: get the black spidey sculpt and cut the mask of this mms 143.

Could you guys show how the masked head remains after the mod? can you use both heads, and swap them easy?

Also, I have seen the price of Tobey sculpt rang from 40 usd to 100 usd on ebay. Do I have to beware of bad quality knockoffs?

If you could help, I eould be grateful. Cheers!!

I've posted quite a few pics here but I'll try to dig them up. The head swap still remains difficult only because the neck comes off the body easier than the head comes off the neck post. If I could devise a magnet system I would be much happier with the result.
That being said there is a fine line between what looks good enough and screen accuracy.

As you can see the black suit spidey has a tighter neck fabric design. It form fits to the neck really well. Not sure if that's the length of fabric that's smaller or tighter or if it's an elastic sting that helps keep the fabric tight to the neck. Either way it looks nicer than the mod to red and blue.

As you can seethe neck stays pretty big looking. Unless you thread a string around the base of the neck to tighten it up it will always look too wide. The cut is very precise. You have to make sure you leave enough fabric to cover the neck at the same time leaving enough to wrap under the head.

The other two things in happy about doing this mod is that it corrects the chicken neck problem and the extra bunching on top of the head is tightened and alleviated.

wow, Jedijim, thank you so much. I was digging these pics and your posts before.

It seems the benefits of the mod surpass the cons. If I get my hands on a MMS 143, I'll give it a go. Right now, I am trying to do so.

Just pm you about it.

Yeah I like it a lot. Like you said it gets rid of the weird lump on the forehead and offers additional posing. It's tricky to switch heads sometimes but you get the hang of it. I don't have any pictures of it right now but I think I'm going to keep this figure over the next Spider-Man. Especially if they put webs under the arms in the new costume
