Since I am just a fan of classsical music and scores I'm going to have to say Enya and Annie Lennox. Both women have such beautiful voices.

Shivaree.

Really the only band I can describe as sounding "noir".

Amazing stuff.

Another vote for Aimee Mann and Kate Bush, but also Annie Haslam from Renaissance:

For me, to name a few:

Anastacia (what a suprise, I know :lol)
Janet Jackson
Mary J Blige
Aaliyah (R.I.P)
Missy Elliot
P!nk
Alicia Keys
Annie Lennox
Whitney Houston
Toni Braxton
Brandy
Monica
Patsy Cline
Beverly knight
Lauren Hill
Shola Ama
Avril lavigne
TLC
Foxy Brown
Aretha franklin
Amy Lee (Evanescence)
The Corrs(who hears the 1 guy anyway :lol)

.....these are just the top of my head.
I could add loads more but I've quite an eclectic collection, anything from R'n'B, Swing, Atlantic Soul, Hip-Hop, some light rock, even some country and Classical.
x :peace

i'd have to go with linda perry, her "in flight" album is one of the best i've heard. amy lee is second, love the evanescence demos.

Anyone remember Samantha Fox from the 80's? Not really revered for her singing so much but.... :)

Alicia Keys
Mary J. Blige
Aaliyah (RIP :monkey2)
Diana Ross
Aretha Franklin
Chaka Khan

And i would also like to add Chrisette Michele, Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, Dawn Robinson (En Vouge, Lucy Pearl) to my list.

I forgot about Elizabeth Fraser from Cocteau Twins.
The soundtrack to my high school sex life.
