Old school I have to give it to The Bangles; still great music.

Portishead, Fiona Apple, Evanecence, Tori Amos are all songs regularly on my mp3 player. I use to be big fans of Poe and Liz Phair, even saw them both in concert at Numbers in Houston, but now their music seems to bug me.

On a side note: I just watched an Otep video on youtube and, after about 30 seconds, all I could think was...wth is this crap. :monkey4

Some beautiful vocals and women from various metal bands..

Tarja Turunen, gorgeous woman and her vocals are amazing..not a fan of Nightwish stuff though.

Amy Lee copied all these beautiful European women who have been singing in metal long before she ever got famous.

Bonnie Raitt, Alison Krauss, Kristen Hersh (Throwing Muses, 50 Foot Wave), Liz Phair, those chicks from Dancehall Crashers (if they still exist), and of course, all those great women of the 80s--Madonna, GoGos, Bangles, Bananarama, Nena, Katrina (from Katrina and the Waves), Patti Smith, Pat Benatar, Toni Basil, Debbie Harry, hell, even Tiffany and Debbie Gibson :rock

If you go back in time a bit further, I'm a huge fan of Sarah Vaughn, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, and Nina Simone.

I personally don't like Evanescence at all.

I love Kate Bush.

:rock:rock:rock

Kristen Hersh (Throwing Muses, 50 Foot Wave),

The girl who sang backup in Throwing Muses ended up fronting Belly. Hersh is good, but I would let Tonya Donnelly sing me to death.

Two more that came to mind are Kate O'Riordan (I don't know if she changed her last name when she married Elvis Costello) from The Pogues and P.J. Harvey. 4-Track Demos is sick.

I was a huge fan of No Doubt in the mid-90s, but Stefani really went to a dark place with her music. It should be a cautionary tale for all musicians, really.

And Tonya Donnelly is decent, but I'm personally drawn to Hersh. She has such a distinctive, interesting voice that fits the music she made and continues to make.

Will No Doubt is back and that's who I am going to see tonight. Hopefully my cousin can get me back stage pass. She has a couple.

can't really disagree with you there except to say that Throwing Muses were better when it Tanya was in it, they were great together.
