Budget Stark: I was curious about the insane long line. Is Ultron a monster hit in HK or is this particular Iron Man armor just a particular hit?

There are just exactly a lot of people in HK.

AOU is a hit in HK, but it is the simple fact that Iron Man is by far the most popular line in HK. Probably the most popular line in Asia. Pretty much as simple as that.

To put things into perspective, the entire country of HK is about the same population as London or New York and roughly about the same size as those cities. So if 2,000 people in a population of 7 million or so (which is not exactly a high percentage) all have to pre-order figures in person at Secret Base, there will obviously be queues. How many MK45s will be sold in USA, 10,000 plus? Imagine if all of those people have to queue up instead of clicking a few buttons online, it would be something similar I think.

Is there a reason why Hot Toys can't make an online preorder service for HK residents? Maybe use the HKID as an authenticator along with address?

because there are lots of spetculators in HK who used to stock up HT figures and sell at much higher price.
to queue up in person to PO at least increase these spectculators cost thus genuine figure fans can make purchase.

There aren't too many products you have to line up for in person here in the US. One that comes to mind are Air Jordan shoes. These events make the news for fights and people being trampled. :cuckoo:

I think that reply is fairly accurate.

Not just Hot Toys, pretty much all figure shops must be in person to pre-order and pick up, Secret Base Hot Toys, Toy Hunters, Kids Logic, King Arts. Only a few resellers do online.

HK is so small, pretty much everything is within 30 min to 45 min by public transport. Unless of course you live on one of the islands.
