Re: Batman: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle

That's probably the best side on view and I reckon with the canopy open the front would probably look just as short as it does in the video

Yeah the front looks just as shortened in that pic as it did in the video. The canopy being slid forward definitely exacerbates the fact. Well, thats a pity, I'm no expert on it but if memory serves the bonnet should be longer, verging on the ridiculously-so. Correct me if I'm wrong.

But anyway, it still has the look. Where the **** will I order from is the only question.

Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

When the canopy is closed, it appears to be longer. I thought it was short as hell when it was first shown at SDCC, but once we saw the Pitu video and pics of the canopy closed, it looked just like the film. No worries.

Remember, we never see the canopy slid towards the front from a side, profile perspective, it's either from the forced perspective angle outside the museum, or the front.

If the front looks short and stubby in hand, with the canopy closed, I'll eat crow.

Here's a side view of the Toynami. Doesn't look as short to me.

Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

Having compared the Toynami next to the Hot Toys, it looks like it's not the length of the car that is short. It looks short lengthwise because the Hot Toys Batmobile is taller. And guys I realize this had been said before in more ways than one...but I just saw it for myself and thought I'd share. Again, the Hot Toys is most likely taller to fit a figure.

Actually ignore my last post here's the best pic of it side on with the canopy open

Doesn't look any shorter there than it does on the vid imo :lecture

Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

Its even said that for the movie batmans ears had to be cut so he could fit in the batmobile so im sure HT's version is a bit taller since nobody will be cutting there figures ears to make the figure fit.

If true they didn't have to do that. A much simpler solution would be to provide a Batman cowl that has shorter ears with the car (similar to how the Batpod came with a specialised wired cape) just like was actually done in the film. :dunno

Yes, according to the behind-the-scenes video several pages back, the cowl with the shorter ears was one method to get him to fit. I think that there were several other methods of fitting Keaton into the car and closing the canopy, besides just the one mentioned in that clip. Examine closely this screengrab DiFabio posted:

His ears don't look shortened in this particular shot (probably because it is a closeup of the closing/opening canopy), but they compensated to make him fit in another way. Look at that straight line behind Keaton's head beneath the headrest. It seems that they removed the cushion from the back of his seat--(and why not the bottom too while they're at it?)-- to make sure he fits and sits low enough to clear the canopy.

If true they didn't have to do that. A much simpler solution would be to provide a Batman cowl that has shorter ears with the car (similar to how the Batpod came with a specialised wired cape) just like was actually done in the film. :dunno

I agree with you (and others) that would be the most elegant solution, especially if the 1/6 figure was at least as flexible as the full sized version --but we know he isn't. Maybe the extra height with the car is there to help compensate, not just for the ears, but also for the figure's inflexibility when forced into a seated position?

Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

does anyone think they should make the back engine exhaust light up ?

Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

would a provision of a headless, non posable (like the tracker hound) alternate batman figure, in a permanent driving position solve the dilemma of having to force the actual dx figure into the batmobile?

just pop it in and then pop the dx head on it and BAM!!! you got 'bats-driving-with-the-top-down' display...

Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

i went to HTs earlier to check out the batmobile, i thought it looks good, but what do you guys think of the tail fins? is it accurate?

Where the **** will I order from is the only question.

I contacted forbiddenplanet.com to see if they'll be putting it up for pre-order. No reply so far. They normally reply the next morning. 5 days now. :/

I don't like the sound and thought of collectiblesdirect after reading their payment page.

Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

:lecture Yeah, this thing is still way out for them to be charging now. I mean, May 2013... and there's still the inevitable delay announcement.

Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

Kind of bummed to see that HT's solution to Keaton fitting into the Batmobile was to make it taller.

As was already suggested, they should have followed the studio crew and just have a cowl with shorter ears used instead. :slap

Seems more cost effective to me, but probably not anymore if the Batmobile mold is already developed and ready for casting. :(

Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

The canopy on Hot Toys car is slid much farther forward than it was in the movie.

That is because the cockpit and the canopy are too large in proportion to the rest of the car. Also on the HT, Batman sits about 3 inches lower to scale compared to in the movie still, relative to the bulkhead behind him.
So it looks like the bulkhead behind him is too tall even for the figure on the HT, by about 3 inches to scale.

I just noticed something else that is wrong with the HT. The back corners of the windshield are too sharp compared to the real car. These pics prove that.
