Han & Luke as Stormtroopers PHOTO Thread

Thanks fellas! D'oh, forgot to take a shot of the box. Sorry guys, at work now. Maybe I can grab pics when I get home and pop it up. It is the same size as the usual SSC single 12" Star Wars figure box except it is double wide. When it closes they are facing each other in the windows. The...

No doubt. SSC should get some props for these. The heads do not seem to be caked in paint as previous releases, so stripping them should be much easier. Also, they fixed some of the problems we had with the armor of the original TKs they released. For instance, they added black straps to...

Han & Luke as Stormtroopers PHOTO Thread

Luke, have you been licking toads again? You too, Han? Sideshow made it nice and easy to get the head off for repainting. In fact, the heads pretty much fall off if you're not careful. I was led to believe that Luke would be shorter, but they are the same size. Luke's grappling box...

thanks, everyone!! :) Yup! I was totally inspired by Raymond's wicked Bourne bash. Here's the recipe for this guy: - Loading Toys Head (repainted) - HT TrueType body (soon to be swapped for narrow shoulder version) - Loading Toys courier sweater - Dr. Figures overcoat (soon to be altered) -...

No airbrush, just paintbrushes. I use a #2 flat to do all of the base coats. If the wash is thinned out enough with water (bottled, not tap), and you use quick, lightfast strokes, your final result should have zero brush strokes. Liquitex is really good that way. It takes multiple coats to get a...

wow guys, thanks so much for the kind words! Hi! I just rinse off the heads with water and dry with paper towels then use an air duster to blow off any specs of anything. Then I start laying on very thin layers of a skin tone wash (a mix of Liquitex soft body acrylic paints). There are some...

thanks guys! you make a me blush! :) yeah, neehar, samesies on the elbow joints. I have some of the sovereign skins (they are just airing out--hehehehe), so those might look good on a narrow TT. I think that will bring his shoulders up higher and look better overall.

yes, this sculpt is brilliant! did a few more John Locke paint jobs this weekend. this is one I kept for myself. I stuck him on a G1 body but I'll probably swap it out for a narrow shoulder TT when they come in. thanks for looking! JJ

thanks, fellas! you are way too kind! thanks for the tip on obiwan's hair, Neehar! after I get some other heads off my plate I'll go back and add some shading. I kinda rushed it a little :) and thanks for the encouragement, Aaron, but I don't think I could ever top Small Studios. Josh is the...

I saw the AMAZING Obiwan repaint Josh (@Small Studios) did a bit ago and it really pointed out how great the sculpt is (but how bad the paint was). So I took a crack at one last week....probably not as good as Josh's, but I dig it :) BEFORE: AFTER:

haha, thanks guys :) venom, much of the texture comes from pastels. here is the tutorial that I learned with. I pretty much stick to this, but use slightly different colors and I don't follow his order exactly. good luck with it!!

Thanks, Evilface! Usually I get liquitex acrylics for around $3 each from dickblick.com, but sometimes in a pinch I have to break the bank and spend $6 on them at Michael's crafts stores... I keed I keed. Seriously, though. I'm not sure if it's taboo or what to post about pricing. Seems like...

I posted this in my own thread already, but I just finished up a few Locke painting commissions tonight so I wanted to show you guys. Plus Locke is one of my all-time favorite characters. :) This guy is such a joy to paint. I could seriously work on these all day. Andy B's sculpt is...
